Quizzo Tonight at the Westbury

mikeThe quizzo at Westbury has been a hit so far. Nice crowds, great drink specials, and a really good quiz have combined to make this a fun night to play quizzo. Hopefully we will see you there tonight. Here’s more from the quizmaster.

Last week’s beer quiz was lots of fun and we had a great crowd. Tonight, we return to regular quizzo.  A few teams have established themselves as the “contenders” at The Westbury, but none has run off a long string of victories.  That leaves things pretty wide open for a new team to come in and make their mark.  Prizes are $40 for first and $20 for second.  Tonight would be a great evening to start a winning streak, as there are some incredible keg specials to spend your winnings on. Boon Kriek (a cherry Lambic), Rodenbach Gran Cru and Steen Brugge Tripel are all only $3.00 until they kick.  In addition, the last place team can count on taking home something special as well.  Hope to see some of the teams from the rest of the week at The Westbury tonight.

$175 on the Line Tonight!

bounty3The biggest Big Money Tuesday ever goes down tonight. We start at O’Neals at 8 p.m., where the winner walks with the biggest first place gift certificate on the circuit, $50. 2nd Place gets $25. Lots of parity at O’Neals, with three different winners in the last three weeks, so your team’s got just a good a shot as any to take the crown.

On to the Bards, where I have doubled the bounty on Steak Em Up. That’s right, anyone who can knock off Steak Em Up tonight walks with a $40 gift certificate and $40 cash. Action starts at 10:15 p.m. Oh, and I’d expect a beer question or two this week due to Beer Week.

As for last night, quizzo at the POPE was awesome. Packed house, fun quiz, and my first ever joker quiz. I’ll post some of the questions tomorrow. I would have done it today but I got a little too tipsy last night and had to sleep in. If you ever see me doing a shot of Jameson’s in the future, please advise me to put it down and just go the hell home. Your cooperation is appreciated in advance.

Gonzo Quizzo Tonight at POPE!

gonzo2Gonna have a lot of fun at the POPE tonight. If you like Hunter S. Thompson, beer, and/or dogs, this is going to be the quiz for you. Flying Dog Brewery is going to be host for tonight’s quizzo, and as you may be aware, Ralph Steadman does their artwork. The same Ralph Steadman who did the artwork for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Curse of Lono, and numerous other Thompson works. What a great chance for me to host a quiz in honor of one of my favorite writers of all time. But don’t worry, you can do well w/o reading Hell’s Angels. There will also be questions on dogs (In honor of Flying Dog) and Beer (in honor of, well, beer). Gonna be a fun quiz. Furthermore, there will be a Firkin of Flying Dog and the winners will walk with a $40 gift certificate to the POPE. Hope to see ya tonight! Action starts at 9 p.m., and the POPE is located at 1501 East Passyunk Avenue, between 10th and 11th on Dickinson.
