Here are the updated scores (heading into last night at the Westbury that is). And with two weeks left to go, man are things getting interesting. A couple of things that jump right out. First of all, the Physical Challenges are starting to have a HUGE impact on the standings. Insert Topical Team Name Here has a mere two 3rd Place finishes to their name, and yet are now in the Top 10 and if the Invitations were sent out today would be in the running for the extra $200 prize. My Name is Buck and Look Up Look Down have also taken total advantage of the opportunity to land spots in the top 12 despite no first place finishes. There is a new physical challenge posted, and there will be another posted by the end of the week. With the 25th spot in the contest being held by 5 teams with a mere two points each, you could make the cut simply by doing a physical challenge. It looks like the fight for those last few spots in the Top 10 is going to be extremely intense. The difference between 8th place and 15th place is a mere 4 points. As for teams who haven’t scored yet or who haven’t played yet, you are still in the hunt. My team pulled a huge upset at Westbury, and while I don’t score any points, my teammates scored 5. That means, despite zero wins until this week, they are now almost certainly going to get an invite. All it takes is one win in the next two weeks, or really just a few physical challenges, and you too could be competing for a $600 purse.

Full On Double Rainbow
Some people were wondering what I was talking about this week when I had my “Full On Double Rainbows” Round. Here it is. Enjoy.
Quizzo News and Notes (Oh, and About Those Photos)
Not to worry, the pics haven’t disappeared. But the problem is that I took them with my girlfriend’s camera and she has the cord to connect it to the computer in her purse, and her purse is with her at work. So I can’t post them yet. I will try to get them up tomorrow. In the meantime, several things to leave you with.
First of all, there were a bunch of colonial outfit pics, most of which were totally awesome. And one which was terrible, courtesy of Steve-O, trying shamelessly to earn Lambda points despite the fact that they haven’t played any quizzos yet. His shameless shenanigans have earned Lambda the first (-2) score in JGTSI history. Well, there are two new assignments that you can do to earn up to 5 points over the weekend.
Here is my letter of apology to Ruben Amaro. His deal to get Roy Oswalt was nothing short of brilliant.
There are rumors of a Philaguerilla comedy show this weekend. Want to be in the Most Exclusive Club in Town* and find out when Philly’s best comedians are going to be trying out all new material? Follow us on facebook to learn when the next show is. Spoiler alert: it’s soon.
*It’s not really, I just love writing “Most Exclusive Club in Town”
French Fry Thursday and Revolutionary Photos
First of all, the colonial photos are a hoot! The physical challenge is to show me a picture of a team member or two with someone in a colonial outfit, and several teams have chomped at the bit. You’ve got until tomorrow at 3 p.m. to earn points with a colonial photo!
As for tonight, things have been bumping the last couple of Thursdays, and we’ve been having a lot of fun. First off tonight, the Ugly American. Quizzo start there at 8 p.m. Dollar off all drafts and $1 Corn dogs. And trust me, the corn dogs are really good. These are the best $1 corn dogs you’ve ever eaten.
On to the Bards at 10:15 p.m., where the past few weeks have been like old times, with good crowds on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. A great chance to score points, as after Steak Em Up different teams seem to finish 2nd and 3rd every week. And of course at least two teams tonight will win free fries, and I have some totally sweet last place prizes. (I think the guy who won the “Sleepless in Seattle” nightgown at O’Neals was this week’s big winner.) Hope to see you tonight!
Question of the Week
What is the dark area between the two bands of a double rainbow called?
Bubba Gump: Last Week’s Speed Round
Last week’s speed round: What are the ways that Bubba thinks that Shrimp can be prepared? Bubba gives the answers above.
New Quizzo Tonight!
The JGT Empire expands into Manayunk tonight as Mike Minion takes his quiz to the Terrace Taproom. I’ve played Mike’s quiz. I’ve also been the Manayunk. I am predicting that the winning score tonight is a 45. I keed, I keed! The Terrace Taproom is apparently an excellent bar with a very interesting beer selection. And I have to admit, I am dying to see how Mike goes over in the ‘Yunk. I kind of like tonight’s theme round. I think I might play. Regardless, now that he’s got two quizzes, I am expecting twice as much carpentry this week. Here’s what Mike’s gotta say:
Tonight is the kick-off for a new quizzo venue! Starting this evening, The Terrace Taproom in Manayunk (2847 Terrace Street) will be the site of the early Monday quiz. The debut takes place at 7 PM. The Taproom is only three blocks from the Wissahickon Transportation Center (and one block from the corner of Ridge and Manayunk), so it’s not to difficult to reach, should any of our Center City regulars wish to give it a try. And by the way, the owner tells me the folls from Magic Hat Brewery will be there tonight with some great beer specials and lots of prizes. Should make for a very festive opening night!
