That’s right folks, we just put together this exciting new bar trivia game called “Quizzo” and we want to beta-test it tonight. Where can you play this revolutionary new game that we think will someday lead to major confrontations between Philadelphia and Denver? Happy Birthday Bill Ocean!


The CGI graphics in this video must have cost a fortune, but it was money well spent. The video makes Avatar look like stick figures. However, it raises some questions. Like, how was Ocean able to keep singing as his car was filling up with water? And why is that duck carrying such a huge boombox? Also, after watching this video for the first time in years, I came to the conclusion that it’s about picking up a prostitute.

Denver Ranked 5th Smartest City in Country; Philly 11th

denver_1The Daily Beast did a recent ranking of the 55 smartest cities in the country, and the results were rather interesting. Raleigh Durham took home the top prize, while Denver was #5. Philadelphia just missed the top 10, finishing 11th. So according to the arbitrary measures that constitute this absurd measuring stick, Denver is a much smarter city than Philadelphia. Wouldn’t it be a shame if their 50 or so teams couldn’t beat our 1? The difference between Geek Bowl and this cockamamie ranking is simple: Geek Bowl is quantifiable, this ranking is not. And so, Daily Beast, you better hope we don’t win this thing. It would show your rankings to be nothing but a cheap sham to garner page views. Though that is already pretty evident. DC, Seattle, and Baltimore also finished ahead of Philly, and in past city vs. city smackdowns, we destroyed those cities.

Quizzo Tonight

We kick it off at 6:15 p.m. at the Locust Rendezvous and then move to the Black Sheep at 8 p.m. Had good turnouts at both last week. Hope we can keep it going tonight. Instead of 50/50 or speed round last night we had a Mystery Round. I gotta admit, it stumped most teams. Will it stump yours? Find out tonight.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but as of right now, we are tentatively looking at March 20th as a date. I am in talks with a very cool venue. They want to do it, I want to do it, we just gotta make sure we can make those numbers line up for both of us. It’s tricky when, in addition to renting the room, you gotta give away a bunch of prize money and pay a band, so we’re trying to find a way to make it happen. But I’m really hoping it will and I really want to set a new attendance record this year. That’s something we can aim for if we get this place. Should know something a little more definite on Monday. I’ll keep ya updated.

Then at 10:15 p.m. we move on to the Bards, where Steak Em Up seemingly has a stranglehold on first. Beating them is like beating the Yankees…all of America will love you for it. $2.50 Lagers and Bud Light drafts. Oh, and no 50/50 or speed round this week. Instead, something a little different.
