Quizzo Bowl Venue and Headliner Announced!

Here’s the info, folks. I’m gonna let Fastball Bob give you the scoop. All of the details and fine print below.

WHERE: World Cafe Live

WHEN: February 19th

WHAT: Quizzo Bowl VII, the preeminent quizzo event in the country.

WHO: You, me, Fastball Bob, Chip, the Lovely Cookie, Chip, and my mom. And since I am making this a “Greatest Hits” Quizzo Bowl, Haulin’ Oats will be performing between rounds. And this year, they’re not just doing Hall and Oates songs. They’re going to be performing all of your favorite jams from the 1980s!

WHY: I thought last year’s Quizzo Bowl was quite good, but not the best. So this year I am pulling out all the stops to make this the greatest Quizzo Bowl ever. More prizes, more entertainers, more exciting questions. In addition to Haulin Oats, I am bringing back the best halftime act we’ve ever had at Quizzo Bowl. I am also bringing in a special guest singer for a cameo. And there will be both live music questions and (hopefully) video questions this year. Like I said, I am pulling out all the stops to make this the greatest Quizzo Bowl event in world history.

SPONSORSHIP: I am still looking for sponsors for this event. If you are interested in sponsoring an event that involves around 300 beer drinkers primarily between ages of 25-45, please drop me a line.

ONE FINAL NOTE: Chip and Johnny will not be rapping or dancing at this event, so don’t get your hopes up.

At the Westbury, Sell Your Soul for Rock ‘n’ Roll…

Sex-drugs-and-rock-n-roll-…and Sex and Drugs, of course.  To be more accurate, test your knowledge of these perennial favorites, and sell your soul for a $40 first prize.  That’s right, now that Christmas is safely behind us, it’s time to be naughty.  Tonight’s ENTIRE quiz is devoted to those things that can earn you a lump of coal: Sex, Drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The action gets underway at 10 PM.  Yes, I know the BCS championship is on tonight, and on the off chance you enjoy  two teams playing for a subjective “National Championship”, worry not, the game will be on at the Westbury.  As always, the beer specials will be some of the best in the city, JohnniE will be behind the bar, and there will be a special “Bonus” round. Quizzo News and Notes

Picture 1Several things to look forward to in the next few weeks. First of all, big Quizzo Bowl announcements coming next week. Venue and band will both be revealed. Also, I am still looking for sponsors. If anyone is interested in donating either prizes or having their name on the marquee, so to speak, shoot me a line. This is gonna be a great event with about 300 people in attendance, and website activity always shoots up around Quizzo Bowl time. All I ask is that you don’t spell the event “Quzzo Bowl” on the banners.

Also, in case you were unaware, me and a crew of geeks are heading back out to Denver at the end of the month. The Denverites ripped Philly a few months ago. Well, I’ve been working on a battle rap since. It’s finally written, and hope to get the video done and up by early next week. I’m not sure Denver and the surrounding suburbs will ever recover from the verbal assault I am about to launch.

As for regular quizzo next week, Mike Minion’s got a pretty interesting quiz going down at the Westbury on Monday. The entire quizzes topic is Sex, Drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll, and in addition to the questions Mike will have some rock music to give away at the quiz. (After checking with our lawyers, we discovered that he is not allowed to give away either sex or drugs at the quiz, however.) As for my quiz, another week of the unusual insanity, plus more Face Off, where some players win within seconds, and others get booed after blowing easy questions, such as the players  involved in this exchange at the Rendezvous…Q: How does Humpty Hump like his oatmeal? Player 1: Runny Me: No Player 2: Extra Thick? Me: No, lumpy. Humpty likes it Lumpy. Crowd: Booooo!

Face Off for French Fries

frenchfry1-1Hard to make heads or tails of it, but on the normally slowest week of the year, we had two of our most insanely packed quizzos in months last night. Not sure if it was my promise of an easy quiz or the lure of the Face Off, but we were rocking last night. Hoping it continues tonight at Ugly American at 8 p.m. and Bards at 10:15. Of course, tonight we’ll have two face-offs, with one for the prize and the other one coming for french fries. All new quiz tonight, so feel free to play again. $2 Lagers at Ugly American, and 2 Jack Frost Big Boulder passes to give away tonight at Bards. And I’m not sure yet, but I’m feeling a mystery round potentially in the making. Hope to see ya tonight!
