Bounty On Jams Up to $30 Tonight

bounty3.jpg
The Jams have succesfully fought off the bounty the last two weeks by a total of 2 points. WIll this be the week they finally fall? We’ll see. Rumor has it that there are some big names playing tonight, including the Kingdom and possibly Lamda. If you wanna see how you stack up against the big boys, tonight’s the night.

Quizzo Tonight

You know the deal. O’Neals at 8 p.m., Bards at 10:15 p.m. And don’t give me some “I can’t go to quizzo because the State of the Union is on tonight” excuse either. There are no jobs, no hope, and everything is going terribly wrong. There you go. There’s your State of the Union. Now play quizzo.

David Stone at San Quentin

(Today’s late start brought to you by the good people at Cantina Los Caballitos, who served me way too many margaritas last night.)
Some of you who have been in the game for a minute may remember David Stone, the Johnny Cash impersonator who performed at the start of Quizzo Bowl I, and who even did a few songs at the Bards quizzo one night. Well today is the 40th anniversary of Johnny Cash’s Legendary performance at San Quentin, and guess where David is? That’s right, he’s doing a show today at San Quentin. Pretty cool.

Brian Tierney Out of His MInd

tierney.jpg
The only explanation we can come up with is that Brain Tierney’s big dream was always to become the least popular man in Philadelphia since Rich Kotite. If that is indeed the case, he has succeeded. Turns out that while the Inky and Daily News were spiralling towards bankruptcy, Tierney was awarding himself an enormous raise! Does this guy actually possess arms and legs or does he physically slither across the floor?

Oscar thoughts?

Thumbnail image for 80-academy_awards_poster.jpg
Any of ’em you think they screwed up? Any they got right? I heard the Kate Winslet movie was slow as all get out. But Holocaust movies always get Oscars, even if they make Nazis sympathetic, like they did in The Reader. So you knew she was going to get it. And sorry, but I thought Penn had the third best performance I saw over the weekend. Shoulda gone to Langella, though Rourke woulda been fine as well. I thought it was I liked Slumdog a lot, but I wasn’t crazy about the ending. But I can see why it got Best Pic. I never did get around to seeing Benjamin Button. I understand it was a perfectly good movie, but not Best Picture Worthy. And I have to disagree with Smackdown’s assessment that Penelope Cruz is one of the best actresses going. But I didn’t see any of those Best Supporting Actress Movies, so sure, she wins. Best Supporting Actor? I only saw two films, and thought Brolin and Ledger were both terrific, but it was pretty predetermined that Ledger was gonna win. Your thoughts?
