The terrible book Moby Dick (which we discussed in our latest podcast*) was based on the disastrous voyage of what whaling ship in 1820?

We’re gonna play a little quizzo, as well as a little Name That Tune at quizzo tonight, starting at the Industry at 6:30. There is typically plenty of nearby parking, there are $3 craft beers, and there is terrific food. A really interesting quiz this week. Duane’s World actually finished 6th last night, if that tells you anything. Anyone could take this quiz. A really funky one.
On to Bards at 9:15. You know how we do.
Oh, and be sure to post your Halloween outfit on the facebook page to earn JGTAI points! You’ve got one more day to do so!
Hope to see you tonight!
The new This Week in Worthless Knowledge podcast is up. You can download it here on itunes, or you can listen here on Nat’s blog if you don’t use itunes. We’ve worked out some audio tweaks, and I think the show is really getting funny. We talked about Charles van Doren, and how much I would need to be offered to cheat on Jeopardy (and how doing so would ruin my quizzo career). We also discussed Guy Fawkes, Vlad the Impaler, what animal you’d take into space, and why our wives don’t listen to our podcast. If you haven’t already, be sure to like us on Facebook as well.
And a quick favor to ask: if you enjoy the podcast, please leave a review on itunes. As an added (shameless) bonus, I will give 3 points in the JGTAI to any player who posts a review on itunes. At the very least, please give it a 5-star rating on there. Thanks, and hope you enjoy it!
Action starts at O’Neals at 8 p.m. $50 gift card for the winners…$100 if you can top 120 points. $3.50 margaritas and Mexican beers.
On to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. $100 gift card for the #1 team, and last week it was a very close contest. It’s anybody’s game to win. Hope to see you tonight!
Action starts at 9:30 at Sidecar. We’ve been rocking the past few weeks. Let’s get back to it this week.
As far as North Star, I have not heard anything in the past couple of weeks. I’ll begin looking at some other spots in the neighborhood soon. In the meantime, if any North Star ex-pats are itching to play some quizzo, your best bets to find parking would be City Tap House on Tuesdays at 10:30 or Thursdays at 6:30 at Industry.

A few weeks ago, the quizzo community raised $900 for PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society). I received an email from them that will give you a better idea of where that money went. And I want to again thank everyone who donated. You guys rule.
Odds are, you love worthless knowledge. Otherwise, I highly doubt you would be spending any time on a quizzo website. Well good news, now you can get some of that worthless knowledge outside of the bar.
My buddy Nat “The Truth” Jones and I used to host a radio show together on the Eastern Shore of Virginia 15 years ago. Well, thanks to the wonders of mondern technology, we can do so again, despite the fact that he lives in Boston and I’m here in Philly. So we’ve decided to make this show about worthless knowledge, and more specifically, worthless knowledge that happened this week. You can grab the podcast off of itunes here. If you don’t have itunes, you can still listen online here.
On this week’s show (our 2nd), we discussed Sir Walter Raleigh’s head, which his wife carried around in a velvet bag for 29 years after he was decapitated on October 29th, 1618. The Sistine Chapel ceiling painting was completed on November 1st, 1512, so we discussed which would rather see: Michaelangelo’s Sistine Chapel or MIchaelangelo, the 6-foot tall crime fighting turtle. It’s a pretty entertaining podcast, so I hope you’ll subscribe. We’re gonna do a new one each week. And be sure to follow us on Facebook, where we’ll be posting more strange, unusual, and worthless knowledge all through the week.
