As you may remember, I released a dope rhyme last year when the Phillies came back to beat the Rockies in the NLDS. Then, before the Series, I released a cheesy one about the team. I’m getting back to the dope stuff with this one. In case you are unaware, Tree Fo’ Fo’ is an homage to the great Moses Malone, who, when asked how the Sixers would do in the 1983 NBA Playoffs, responded simply “Fo’ Fo’ Fo’,” indicating that the Sixers would win every game. I feel like the Phillies have that kind of same swagger, so that’s sort of what the song is about. If you enjoy it, please click “like” below. Go Phils!

Is This The Most Important Week in the JGTAI?
Quite possibly. This is a big week. The next two weeks are completely up in the air due to the Phillies, so this is the week for you to make a move. Tonight, we are at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. I know for a fact that the Jams will be shorthanded this week, so this could be a great opportunity to score some points. On to the Black Sheep at 8 p.m. Duane’s World has been hot lately, and are coming off a historic performance. But they can certainly be beaten. It looks like we’re going to have to downsize to 20 teams getting an invite. Before you think that means you are out of it, think again. Two teams scored their first points last night and are now in the top 25, and several teams that make the cut are either going to consolidate or not make it. (If you finish in the Top 25, I am quite confident you will get an invite. After that, however, no promises). Furthermore, there are a total of 7 points that can be earned this week in physical challenges on facebook, including a brand new one. So get your team in gear. Time is of the essence.
UPDATE: Some exciting news coming tomorrow on the new Tuesday night venue.
UPDATE #2: The musical performer at the Big Event is going to be amazing. You are not going to want to miss this! Details coming soon.
JGTAI Rolls Into Week 4
There they are, folks. The illustrious JGTAI Trophies, the only ones like them in the world. And one team is going to be going home with them, as well as prize worth $300, on November 14th. I am in talks with several places right now, and should have a venue by the end of the week, so be sure to check back. Also, I am waiting to see what the Phillies schedule is going to be next week, as it will undoubtedly affect our quiz. But this week we are looking good and all quizzes will be as scheduled. In case you missed it, the JGTAI scores are up. Don’t worry, even if you haven’t scored, there is still time. But I would definitely get a game in this week. As for tonight, a great chance to put up points at O’Neals. We have yet to establish a consistent winner there for months. Action starts at 8 p.m. On to Bards, where we’ll be doing our final Tuesday quiz tonight at 10:15 p.m. (We will still have the quiz on Thursday.) Already talking to a few bars about a new Tuesday spot. Hopefully we’ll have something soon. Also, Mike Minion hosts tonight at Terrace Taproom at 8 p.m. The theme is Star Wars. Hope to see ya tonight!
Question of the Week
Create a Team Avatar, Get JGTAI Points
Ok, so here’s something that’s both a lot of fun and a great way to get bonus points in the JGTAI. We’ve been doing photos of the winners on the site for years, and quite frankly, it’s run its course. Last week I forgot to take photos at the Bards, and instead had to post ridiculous photos. It was kind of fun, and added a little flair to the site. So I thought, “Let’s have each team have an avatar instead of a weekly photo.” Geeky? You’re damn right it is. So here’s the deal. Either you can create your own avatar or I’ll do one for you. If you want to do your own, it’s quite easy, and it will earn you 3 points in the JGTAI. Just go to befunky.com and play around a bit. (No, this is not a paid promotion. I wish.) You can either play around with your team’s photo (above) or play around with something that your team name personifies (below). To earn your points, post your new avatar on the facebook page by next Monday. Trust me, this is very easy to do and takes like 5 minutes. And it’s a lot of fun.
Johnny Goodtimes Autumn Invitational Scoreboard!
Here ya go, the scoreboard. We’re only three weeks in, and already 64 teams are on the board. Only 25 of them will qualify for the Fall Classic, scheduled for November 14th (I am keeping open the possibility of the 21st if we lose a ton of quizzes to the Phillies). Venue details could be released as soon as tomorrow. If you have not played yet, there is still hope, as there are still 5 more weeks to go. But I wouldn’t wait too much longer, or it’s gonna be hard to get into the mix. As for best place to score points, well I’d say most spots are pretty wide open right now. We had new winners at both O’Neals and Ugly American, and the Black Sheep always has a lot of parity. Here is the schedule for this week.
MONDAY
- The Westbury (with Mike Minion) 10:30 p.m.
TUESDAY
- Terrace Taproom (with Mike Minion) 7:30 p.m.
- O’Neals 8 p.m.
- Bards 10:15 p.m.
WEDNESDAY
- Locust Rendezvous 6:15 p.m.
- Black Sheep 8 p.m.
THURSDAY
- Ugly American 8 p.m.
- Bards 10:15 p.m.
Quizzo News and Notes
First of all, the JGTAI rolls on tonight at the Westbury with Mike Minion. Great beer specials as always and of course a friendly face behind the bar in the form of JohnniE. Mike has informed me that tonight the 3rd Round will be a Mystery Round. Seeing as how there are few people I know as mysterious as Mike Minion, this should be interesting.
Secondly, tomorrow night will be our final Tuesday night quiz at the Bards. I will still be doing the Thursday night quiz, but Paddy and I talked and decided that we’d get more bang for our buck with one quiz a week there. I am already in talks with a few other places and will hopefully have a new spot lined up soon. I’m looking to try somewhere new, maybe West Philly, Art Museum, or NoLibs. I’ve got Center City more or less on lockdown, so I wanna diversify a bit if possible.
Ok, I’m working on JGTAI scores as we speak. Should have them up in the next hour or so.
Finally be sure to check out the latest post I did over at isportacus, about Philadelphia’s disappointment in Cole Hamels for not throwing a no-hitter.Funny stuff.
Duane’s World on a Roll, Knock off Jams by a Point
The Hunt for Red Doctober Wins at O’Neals
Tripleheader Tonight!
We’re going back to the days of yore with tonight’s action, as we’re going tripleheader style. Can it be as amazing as last night? Gonna be hard to beat. Get this: A couple of hours after Roy wrapped up his no-no, Duane’s World became the first team in Black Sheep history to record a perfect score. In fact, they are the first team to record a perfect score outside of that notorious pitcher’s ballpark known as the Bards. The funny thing is that this came two nights after they scored a record team low 50 on Monday night. It’s a funny game, that quizzo.
And it continues tonight at three different venues. We kick it off at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. ($3 Abita Purple Haze, $2 Narragansett Lager), then move to the Ugly American at 8 p.m. (Dollar off all drafts). We wrap it up at the Bards at 10:15 p.m. ($2.50 Lagers and Miller Lites.) It’s gonna be a long Doctober. Might as well get your livers in shape now.
UPDATE: Rounds Two and Three will both be in honor of Halladay, but neither will be a sports round. It’s gonna be a fun quiz tonight. Hope to see ya there.
