Rock ‘N’ Bowl on August 8th!

Hey gang, as most of you know I am involved in an educational program (through the Urban Youth Association) at the Marian Anderson Center. It is a program where we work on improving that the math and writing skills of teenagers. We have incredible tutors (most of whom I know through quizzo, by the way, in another example of what a cool community we have here) and a terrific program. But like most programs it is not free to run. Therefore we are having a Rock ‘n’ Bowl Fundraiser on Saturday, August 8th at Saint Monica’s Lanes. $20 will get you bowling, beer, and live music. Try to find a better deal than that in the city. Even better, 100% of your $20 is going to a very worthy cause that I believe in whole-heartedly. I have sent out facebook invites to many of you (If you want to be friends on facebook, just hit me up here.) If you are going to be in the city that weekend, please seriously consider coming out. Your support would be greatly appreciated. I will have tickets on sale at quizzo this week and next.

Quizzo Tonight

We kick it off at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. Perhaps the best beer and drink specials in Center City. Then we move on to the Black Sheep at 8 p.m. Been a solid crowd there the last few weeks, but not too crazy. Get there by 7:30 and you should be able to get a table (but no guarantees!) Hey kids, off to take care of some errands. Be back this afternoon. Have two pizza reviews in the can, just waiting to get interviews with the owners of the places, so I’ll have something up hopefully tomorrow. Talk to ya soon.

Are Eagles Fans Ruining Baseball in this Town? Are Robbers Ruining Quizzo?

Just posted something on isportacus I thought you might be interested in. I asked if, after the tragic events of this Saturday in which a man was murdered just outside the ballpark, it seems like the fans at the Citizens Bank this year are a little bit more intense, more like football fans than baseball fans. Would love to hear your input. Of course, I suppose you could also ask if quizzo is more violent these days. A bar in the Northeast just got robbed last night during quizzo.

Happy Birthday Yahoo Serious

Yahoo was born on this date in 1953. I haven’t seen Young Einstein since it came out. Has anyone seen it recently? Does it hold up? In case you were wondering, Yahoo is still doing movies, and he hates Yahoo! because he claims they stole his name.
Plagiarism is a form of flattery some say. Well maybe in some cases, if carried out by other artists. But a bunch of marketeers have destroyed the uniqueness of a name. They’ve blanded it, McDonaldised it! Worse actually. There were hundreds of thousands of people in the world called McDonald. There is only one person called Yahoo. There is only one real Yahoo and no amount of mass marketing can ever change the facts or the history.
