On April 27th, 1986, this city of 49,000 people had to be evacuated because of the meltown of the nearby Chernobyl nuclear reactor. What city was it, which has been abandoned now for almost 30 years?

JGTSpI Scores and JGTSpI Important Update!
Ok, so here are the scores to the JGTSpI after 7 weeks. Teams in yellow would make the cut if the season ended today and teams in blue would not. Still a lot of time left. And there’s a new Facebook challenge, which is a great way for your team to score points.
Time to admit that I’m a dum-dum. Ok, so I was saying May 24th at the Tap House previously. Probably shoulda looked at the calendar. That’s Memorial Day Weekend. No-one will be around. Unfortunately, City Tap is booked for the 17th and the 31st, so we’ll have to move elsewhere. Working on a venue and a band now, and I’ve got a cool combo in mind. Hope to have the date (either the 17th or 31st), the venue, and the lineup finalized in the next day or two, so stay tuned.
JGTSpI Updates
Some interesting developments in the JGTSpI. Here are your scores (this doesn’t include last nights action). Inkspot has taken a commanding 11 point lead halfway through the season. After them, there is a glut of teams vying for the remaining spots. Teams in yellow are up for a bonus prize to be given out the night of the Big Event. The Big Event will be Sunday, May 24th at the City Tap House (outdoors if the weather is nice).
There is a very fun and rather simple Bonus Challenge up on the JGT Facebook page right now. An easy way for teams to earn up to 5 bonus points in the event. I highly recommend you get on it.
Looking to score more points? I’d say that things are pretty up in the air at both spots tonight, O’Neals and the City Tap House. Might wanna slide into one of them to make the magic happen. See ya this week!
Philly’s Most Infuriating
We’ve got a pretty fun bracket going on over at Shibe Sports on Facebook. Mike Missanelli or Mike Vick? Howard Eskin or Rod Barajas? Jimmie Johnson or Tom Coughlin? First round voting ends tomorrow afternoon, at which point we’ll move to Round Two. Let’s find out who drives Philly fans crazier than anyone else on earth.
Update on Shibe Sports
Having a lot of fun over at Shibe Sports. We’ve been bringing in a “Stadium Series” which so far consists of two shirts, the Palestra and Shibe Park, which are selling so fast we’re having a hard time keeping them stocked. Even better, we’re going to be getting in a new Spectrum shirt in a couple of weeks. And the design looks AWESOME.
If you want to support local ownership, local artists, and local screenprinters, swing by the store (It’s on 13th Street, between Walnut and Sansom). We’re not only doing sports shirts. We’ve started doing a couple of old local brewery shirts, which look awesome and have been doing great. We’re going to veer farther down that course in the near future.
And this isn’t a stuffy old men’s club, either. We’ve got a lot of women’s shirts and plenty of baby gear. So come by the store or check us out online (enter code “Shibe” if you want to get free shipping on anything you order). We’ve got a pretty cool thing going.
Updated Invitational Scores are Now Posted!
Scores are posted after our first four weeks! A few teams took advantage of our latest Facebook physical challenge to move up in the rankings. There is a new physical challenge posted now.
Still working on details of the Big Event. Will have a day, time and location to you next week.

Tap House and JGT Present the 11th Annual JGT Bracket-tacular
It’s that time of year again, folks. Time for March Madness. Time for the JGT Bracket-tacular. And we’ve got some doozies for prizes this year, thanks to our friends at the Tap House. As you may know, they have several bars and restaurants in the area, including the new Logan Tap House, the Field House, and Pennsylvania 6. All of those come into play this year, as the winner of this year’s bracket-tacular gets a viewing party for 4 at the Field House with beers and apps included. They also get a free dinner at Pennsylvania 6. Our biggest first place prize ever. 2nd place is going to get a $100 gift cert at the Logan Tap House. 3rd place will get $50 worth of gift certs at the City Tap House. And yes, there will be a very special prize for our 50th place finisher again this year.
To sign up, just go here and enter your picks (if you don’t already have a Yahoo account, it literally takes about 20-30 seconds to set one up). Gonna be a fun year, and a crazy tournament as always. Since we’re nerds, we’re going to be using the Fibonacci sequence for scoring, and you do get a bonus point when correctly picking upsets.
