Quizzo This Week

A few tweaks to our normal schedule. There’s no quizzo on Monday, as a couple of people at Loco Pez got COVID and they don’t have enough staff to cover. Which is a bummer because we’ve been rocking there lately. But we’re back in business on Tuesday at Founding Fathers, and rolling through the rest of the week. Here’s our schedule:

TUESDAY

Founding Fathers 8 PM

WEDNESDAY

Dock Street 8 PM

THURSDAY

Deli at Dwell 7 PM

Birra 8 PM

The World’s Greatest Sort-of Super Bowl Trivia

You don’t need to be a football fan to have fun with this one. All of the following answers have an NFL team name in them. They may be singular, they may be spelled slightly differently or add a letter, but they’re all 32 of the NFL teams. If you enjoy it, I just ask that you buy a square in our Super Bowl Squares fundraiser for the South Philly Sharks. You can also take 30% off everything Eagles at Shibe tonight until midnight. Enjoy, and Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

Super Bowl Squares for the South Philly Sharks

The Shibe Sports Super Bowl Squares for the South Philly Sharks (or SSSBSSPS for short) kick off today! A great way to both support our community and take a shot at terrific prizes while doing so. Here’s how it works:

You sign up here. It will give you the link to the signups. You fill out 1-3 random squares ($10 each). You then send your money to @jgtquizzo on venmo, $jgtquizzo on cashapp, or johnny at johnnygoodtimes dot com on paypal. Be sure to include “Sharks” in the note. Then you fill out a random box. There’s really no strategy here. Once we get 100 boxes filled, we pick numbers randomly. We’ll raise $1000 for the incredible South Philly Sharks program, and give some great Shibe prizes to the winner of each quarter. Want to learn more about the program we’re raising money for? Check out this interview I did with two of the men who run the program.

Maybe Next Year at Dock Street South!

Excited to do another movie night at Dock Street. On Sunday, February 6th at 5:30 PM, we’re going to celebrate the Super Bowl with a recent documentary. Maybe Next Year is a look at the 2017 Super Bowl run through the eyes of Eagles fans. You can watch a trailer here. We’ll also have some giveaways from Shibe Sports, a Q&A with one of the participants in the film, and some Super Bowl trivia. Hope to see you at Dock Street South (22nd and Washington) on February 6th!

Quizzo This Week

Quizzo starts on Monday at Loco Pez, where we’ll have $6 nachos and $5 margaritas! On to Founding Fathers on Tuesday at 8 PM. Pretty wide open, 7th Place is establishing themselves as the team to beat. Wednesday we’re at Dock Street, and then Thursday we’re off. Yup, taking the week off at Birra, as Carl and I have a big corporate gig, and you know we’ll sell out on you people for Corporate America every time! Quizzo returns there next week. Hope to see ya this week.

Winter Warz Standings

After a few weeks of the website being wonky, hopefully we’re good to go now. With that being said, here are our standings after three weeks. Boyz II Menehune are in the lead, averaging over 50 points per game. No real surprises on the front end of the standings, but a few disappointments at the bottom half (you know who you are). Regardless, we’re now almost halfway done with the regular season, so better get those brains into midseason form ASAP!

Three Quiz Thursday!

A rare tripleheader on Thursday night, as Taryn hosts at Deli at Dwell, Carl returns to Birra, and JGT hosts a special quiz at Dock Street West! Taryn’s quiz will be part of a BBQ, Bourbon, and Quizzo event at Deli at Dwell, while Carl and I will be hosting at two of the great pizza spots in the city: Carl at Birra and me at Dock Street on 50th Street. (This is in addition to Wednesday’s quiz at Dock Street South at 21st.) Hope to see ya this week!
