I’m back for one more quiz before I really take a break from you people. So if you want to see your dashing young hero in action, tonight’s the night. That said, in true Goodtimes fashion: I will be late. I have a corporate gig at 6:30 so to be safe we’ll be pushing the quiz back to 8:30. Everything else lines up per usual. Make it happen!

You guys will be getting to know Steve aka “Know Contest” a bit better these next few weeks, as he picks up some summer shifts and starts to do some of his own quizzes.
What one album would you want with you on a desert island?
The other day, I had a wicked craving to listen to Achtung, Baby three times in a row without interruption, but I like to avoid getting punched, so I’ll say the Police’s Zenyatta Mondatta–unless I discovered the island wasn’t deserted, in which case I’d quickly switch over to Purple Rain.
What is your favorite sea creature?
The coelecanth, the horrible-tasting, slow-moving fishosaurus we thought was extinct for 66 million years until one was found just chilling off S. Africa in 1938.
Shaping up to be a beautiful night for quizzing outdoors on Thursday, as I’ll be hosting a rare Thursday night quiz at the Julian Abele Park at 22nd and Montrose. Here’s the details:
Teams of (up to) 6 people, $30 per team, with fabulous prizes for the winners. Cash preferred, Venmo also an option.
Bring a blanket and/or chairs for your team, and pack a picnic or do takeout from one of our delicious neighboring restaurants, and certainly bring your own beverages.
Quizzo will be largely geared towards the adults, but there will be some questions that the kids can help with as well. Look forward to seeing you on Thursday night! You can RSVP on Facebook here.
We’re back to our regularly schedule programming this week, more or less, before ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE for the summer. (I’m gonna be spending a lot of time in Virginia over the next month or so, but don’t worry, you’ll be well taken care of.) This week, Carl is out of the country, discovering the wonders of Italian architecture.
I’m going to be hosting a special quiz on Thursday at Julian Abele Park at 6:30. I’ll have more details on that coming soon, but short story is: $30 a team, up to 6 players per team, and we’re gonna hang out in the park and play quizzo (different quiz than the regular, so you can play twice this week if you want).
Last week we learned that weizen means wheat, Procol Harum sang Whiter Shade of Pale, and the first ever drive in movie theatre was located in Camden. What will we learn this week? Here’s your schedule:

Last week we learned that instead of Chuck E Cheese, founder Nolan Bushnell wanted to name his family entertainment center Rick Rats Pizza. His marketing team talked him out of it. Which reminds me: 13 years ago, Chip and I did a pizza review of the Chuck E Cheese that used to be on Columbus Boulevard. Anyways, here’s our lineup for this week.

A fun time last week. We learned that Lynard Skynard is from Jacksonville (where they got their name from their ornery high school gym coach), Luck Be a Lady plays at the Bellagio fountains, and that Ziwe hosts a talk show in an all-pink studio. For this week, please note: quiz is canceled Tuesday night at Founding Fathers due to the Sixers. Otherwise we’re a go as of now. Here’s our schedule:

I’m a day late and a dollar short, but all good, we had a nice crowd at Loco Pez last night anyway. We learned a lot at last week’s quiz, including about how the painting Olympia by Manet (above) caused a scandal in 1865. You can learn more about the controversy here. Another controversy we explored was the Police song Don’t Stand So Close to Me and the 1955 novel it was inspired by: Lolita. You can read more about the background to the song here.
Here’s the rest of the lineup for this week. Carl’s being lazy so I have to fill in for him on Thursday.
