We’re Back! Finally.
Hey gang, got knocked offline two weeks ago and haven’t been able to post since. And a whoooole lot to talk about. Some I’ll be posting here and some I’ll be posting in an email I’m sending out on Friday. If you want to get the email, click here and sign up. (You should it’s a fun email I send out about every other Friday just letting people know what I’m eating, drinking, and what’s happening on the quizzo scene.) As for this week, our topic is “The Future”.
Here’s how things are going down.
- First quizzo tonight is at Fette Sau hosted by our newest QM Steven. They’ve been doing them once a month and it’s been great! Action starts tonight at 6:30.
- I’ll be back at Dock Street tonight at 8 PM.
- Thursday, Taryn hosts at Deli at Dwell at 7 PM and Carl take the mic at Birra at 8 PM.
- Friday, I will be at the Oval at 6 PM. An all new quiz, so even if you played earlier in the week, you are still welcome to play. Beers from Milkboy, quiz in the shade, family friendly, it’s a damn good time.
- Saturday, we’re heading up to DC for the Philadelphia Phoenix’s first playoff game since 2013 (in case you didn’t know, I’m a minority investor in the team). If you’re looking for some fun, we’ve got a bus going down with food, booze, and tickets to the game provided. If you’re not going down, you can still watch the big game on TV…it’s airing live on FS2 at 7 PM.
Big week as we start getting into the swing of things after a lazy summer. Hope to see ya somewhere this week!
Quizzo This Week
Last week we learned that Charles Nagreen invented the hamburger, Tom Clancy owned the Orioles, and Gustave Eiffel built the framework for the Statue of Liberty. We’re back at it this week, with our usual quizzo fun. I will be hosting at Loco Pez on Monday, then Carl takes over for the rest of the week. Great turnout at Deli at Dwell last week too. Weather looks good for this week, so that one should be outdoors again on the patio. Here ya go:

Meet Steve “Know Contest” Bost
You guys will be getting to know Steve aka “Know Contest” a bit better these next few weeks, as he picks up some summer shifts and starts to do some of his own quizzes.
What one album would you want with you on a desert island?
The other day, I had a wicked craving to listen to Achtung, Baby three times in a row without interruption, but I like to avoid getting punched, so I’ll say the Police’s Zenyatta Mondatta–unless I discovered the island wasn’t deserted, in which case I’d quickly switch over to Purple Rain.
What is your favorite sea creature?
The coelecanth, the horrible-tasting, slow-moving fishosaurus we thought was extinct for 66 million years until one was found just chilling off S. Africa in 1938.
Quizzo at Julian Abele Park on Thursday Night!
Shaping up to be a beautiful night for quizzing outdoors on Thursday, as I’ll be hosting a rare Thursday night quiz at the Julian Abele Park at 22nd and Montrose. Here’s the details:
Teams of (up to) 6 people, $30 per team, with fabulous prizes for the winners. Cash preferred, Venmo also an option.
Bring a blanket and/or chairs for your team, and pack a picnic or do takeout from one of our delicious neighboring restaurants, and certainly bring your own beverages.
Quizzo will be largely geared towards the adults, but there will be some questions that the kids can help with as well. Look forward to seeing you on Thursday night! You can RSVP on Facebook here.
Quizzo This Week
We’re back to our regularly schedule programming this week, more or less, before ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE for the summer. (I’m gonna be spending a lot of time in Virginia over the next month or so, but don’t worry, you’ll be well taken care of.) This week, Carl is out of the country, discovering the wonders of Italian architecture.
I’m going to be hosting a special quiz on Thursday at Julian Abele Park at 6:30. I’ll have more details on that coming soon, but short story is: $30 a team, up to 6 players per team, and we’re gonna hang out in the park and play quizzo (different quiz than the regular, so you can play twice this week if you want).
