Last week’s question of the week was, “What is now the largest building in the world?” The answer was the Khalifa Tower. Two guys recently went basejumping off the top of it. And while we find the Burj Khalifa impressive, it’s still not our favorite skyscraper. That honor belongs, of course, to the Ryogyong Hotel. When I wrote about it a few years ago, it looked like it would never be completed and instead an empty building would dominate the skyline of Pyongyang. But an Egyptian firm started working on it last year, and have actually installed windows, and it is slated to open in 2012. Here is the hotel website. Americans will not be welcome.

Ivan the Trivial Wins Again at O’Neals
Joey Vento: American Idiot
The Village Idiot never ceases to amaze. Nice apostrophe. And love the misplaced quotation marks. (Courtesy of Michael Klein.)
Tonight! It’s French Fry Thursday!
We’re finally back at the Ugly American tonight, and French Fry Thursday is in full effect. All new questions tonight, so if you are really committed to this “More Quizzo” New Year’s Resolution that you made, you can play again this week. French Fry Thursday at both Ugly American (Front and Federal) at 8 p.m. and the Bards (20th and Walnut) at 10:15 p.m. Hope to see ya tonight!
The Khyber Conveyor Belt of Gilbert
Two upsets at quizzo last night. An overtime thriller at the Vous resulted in a win for 1022 over the Jams, and Showing Our Youth came out of nowhere to knock off the Dalembert Report at a packed Black Sheep.- Not that you asked, but my take on the Gilbert Arenas situation: I think he should be banned for life. What do you think?
- The Khyber is for sale. Or perhaps it isn’t. Even more interesting: it’s bar is from the 1876 Centennial Convention.
- Finally, is Donovan McNabb still ruining everything? Of course he is.
Happy Birthday Kenny Loggins
I used to think this was such a badass song.
Quizzo News and Notes
First of all, got last weeks Bowl/Not a Bowl quiz over on isportacus. Secondly, Ivan the Trivial continues to steamroll the opposition at O’Neals, winning their 9th straight over their foes. Bounty is now up to $40 for next week, which quite frankly makes me nervous. I don’t know where I’m going to come up with that kind of cash. Alright, well I’m going to check out the Masonic Temple next to City Hall and see if they have the right kind of space for Quizzo Bowl. I doubt it, but it’s a good excuse to check the place out, which I’ve been meaning to do for a while. I’m also checking into a spot in Fishtown and into the Starlight Ballroom, in case we need to have Quizzo Bowl in the hood. If anybody has any more ideas, give me a holler at johnnygoodtimes@hotmail.com.
