Here’s a post I just put up on iSportacus. I think you’re gonna dig it. It’s the recipes and histories of the most famous foods from the homes of the Final Four teams.

VOTE: Best American Novelist of the 20th Century
The criteria was they had to have more than one hit novel (sorry J.D. Salinger) and had to be born in the US (sorry Ayn Rand). These are not my four favorite American novelists, but these are the rock stars of 20th century novelists. The first three were no brainers, the last one came down to Vonnegut and Kerouac, who I personally like better but didn’t have as impressive of a track record. Also, head over to iSportacus to vote on where you think McNabb is headed.
Westworld
After we played Mike’s quiz at Ugly American (very hard but very fair quiz), we went to New Wave. Good trivia, written by Pat, though I like MIke’s questions a little bit better. (Oh, and no 2nd place prize, which is kind of lame.) One question we missed was about Westworld, which I had never heard of until last night. Anybody see this film and care to give a movie review in the comments? Is it worth watching? The trailer makes it look completely insane and kind of awesome. Just curious.
Quizzo Tonight
Yes, I know it’s nasty out. You’re thinking, “If only drinking and answering trivia questions could help clear those clouds away”. Well guess what? They can! I have been told by certain “Sources” that if you attend quizzo tonight, the entity in charge of such things is going to bless us with a beautiful weekend. But only if you play quizzo tonight. So hey, it’s in your hands.
Action starts at O’Neals at 8 p.m., where the Ear is coming off an upset of Lambda, then moves on to the Bards, where there is usally room for you and your squad to grab a table. If you have a big team and have a hard time getting a table, this is the spot for you. Action starts at 10:15 p.m. Hope to see ya tonight!
And in the meantime, let me know who your favorite Phillie is.
Flashmob wins Census Quizzo
A packed house at Bridget Foy’s on Saturday night, as Flashmob cruised past a dozen other teams to win the Census Quizzo. The quizzo was an effort by the city to encourage people to fill out their census forms. Inspired, I have finally filled mine out. (Something I failed to do in 2000.) And let’s face it, if a man of leisure can fill out his form, so can you. Here’s some more info on the 2010 census, which you should have received in the mail by now. You have until Thursday to send it in.
Meritage Wins Food Quizzo at Whole Foods
Congratulations to Meritage, who won the foodie quiz I did at Whole Foods on Friday night. A very cool event, and all of the money went to a great program called the Whole Planet program. Learn more about it here. Thanks to Jen for putting it on and thanks to Whole Foods for having me. Since we were in Jersey and there were few regulars, I expect to maybe se a few food questions tonight.
Question of the Week
Poll: What is your favorite “so bad it’s good” 1980s movie?
I know there are a lot more films that could go here, but these are four of my personal favorites in this category. Any more, post them below in comments (btw, must give all praise due: this was inspired by a John Finger tweet yesterday.)
Vote: Worst Music Video Ever
Well, it’s Final Four week and in an effort to honor it we’re going to be doing of our own Final Four Awards around here. And the winners will be up to you. Today we start with Worst Music Videos of all time. Check them out below and then vote for the worst. And over on isportacus, we want you to vote on your favorite “Almost but not quite championship” teams in Philadelphia.

Who Wants to Play Quizzo Tonight?
Mike Minion is hosting quizzo tonight, and I think I might play. Anybody interested in playing? Action starts at Ugly American (where I am thinking of playing) at 8 p.m. Mike will also be at the Westbury tonight at 10:15 p.m. It is Mike’s quiz, even though I am promoting it here, so there is no chicanery involved. He has said that his quiz will have a bit less pop culture than mine and be slightly more difficult. We’ll see. Anyways, get at me if you want to either play with me or against me. I would suggest against, since truth be told, I am not very good at quizzo. There, the cat’s out of the bag.
Last week a veritable Nor’easter didn’t allow enough people to make it out to Ugly American for a game, but we had a nice turnout at the Westbury, and here were the top 3 scores. I’ll have photos up on the site this week of the top finishers.
- Cathy Drove 91
- No Duane, No Problem 88
- Reser”vous” Dogs 74
Hope to see ya tonight!
