Deets on the Richard M. Nixon Bowlizzo Spectacular

WHERE: St. Monica’s Parish. 16th and Shunk. I can’t remember which end of Shunk it’s on, to be honest. But you’ll find it.

WHEN: Tonight (Saturday). 7:30 p.m.
AVAILABILITY: The lanes have sold out, assuming everyone is coming who says they are. But I do have availability for a couple of duos if anyone wants to join a team. If you do, please let me know ahead of time.
WHY: All the proceeds will go towards the Rec Center where I volunteer.
FOOD AND DRINKS: Yes, I’ll have a couple of kegs. If you think you need more to drink, feel free to bring it. As for food, we’ll be selling meatball sandwiches for like $3 a pop.
TRANSPORTATION: The Broad Street Line is like 3 blocks away. Get off on Oregon, go one block north and two blocks west.

What Evil Lurks Behind That Door?

Something struck me as funny about this sign at the Municipal Court Building today (long boring story about taxes, I’ll tell you later). Anyways, I like the fact that apparently there has been a lot of persistent knocking on this door. Like, it’s kind of a big problem, big enough to make a sign about it. And whoever is doing the knocking just keeps on going, way longer than would be expected. And apparently, the person doing all that knocking should not come into contact with the civilian population. I’d feel like kind of a doofus if I went up to a municipal court employee and was like, “There’s some dude who won’t stop knocking on that door. I would let him in, but the sign says not to.” I’m wondering if it’s just the courts way of saving us from a landshark. Any other theories? Please post them below.

Couple Things

Ok, so first off a quick drink after quizzo turned into a last call situation. Haven’t closed down the Bards since the Phils won the Series, so I was probably due. Anyways, we are down to two lanes left at the first annual Richard M. Nixon Memorial Bowlizzo Spectacular. I also have a couple of duo spots available, so let me know if you and a friend wanna play on a team. If you’re gonna play, better hit me up asap. Also, had a meeting this morning about Quizzo Bowl. Looks promising, but hey, so did the Kimmel before they pulled the rug out, so I’m not going to get ahead of myself. But the meeting went well and I should hear something soon. Will let you know as soon as I do. Alright, scoreboard coming soon.

First of all, you guys have to watch this, a BBC documentary on violent crime and drugs in North Philly. Wow, this is incredible.
A couple of notes of interest on Totalphilly. First of all, a brief history of General McClellan who celebrated his 182nd birthday yesterday. Also, how Nike is trying to squash the beef between Beanie and Gillie da Kid. Ridiculous. Finally, the S&M love triangle that took place in Philly and what my S&M name would be.
And remember, no quizzo at Good Dog tonight. Quizzo at Bards at 10 p.m. Sofa Kingdom will not be there, so you’ve got a good chance to win.

First Annual Richard Nixon Memorial Bowlizzo News and Notes

Alright, we’ve got 5 lanes down, 7 lanes remaining. If you are a solo player or a duo and want to play, shoot me a line and I’ll see if I can put a wild card team together. Please note: I know I said 8 p.m. last time but I’m moving it up to 7:30 so we have enough time to get some extra bowling in after bowlizzo is done. Is This Company Really Worth Saving?

Here’s a fun fact for you: GM loses $1,271 every time they make a car. How is a business like that sustainable, and why bother saving it? If I had to pay the bars $20 every time they let me host a quizzo, my business wouldn’t last long. I’d hate to see so many people lose their jobs, but in a capitalist society, there is a need for business to, you know, make money at some point. How can American Taxpayers be expected to bail out a failed business that is certain to hemorrhage the money we give them every time they make a car?

No Good Dog Quizzo This Week

Quick heads up. There is no quizzo at the Good Dog this week. Apparently, they want to make “money” (Damn capitalists) so they’ve got a private gig going on. Anyhow, the good news is that this gives me a good excuse to be leisurely and only make one set of questions this week, so you won’t have to deal with the Sofa Kingdom on Thursday (they won by 48 points last night). Also, sold the first three teams tickets last night to Bowlizzo. Three down, nine to go. I’ll have tix on me tonight.
