JGTAI Scores After 4 Weeks

Here are our JGTAI scores after 4 weeks. The Top 15 are posted below. Here’s the deal: you’ve got 4 more weeks to get your team in gear. If you’re joining us late, never to fear. You’ve got plenty of time to get into the mix. You can start by scoring some points in our new physical challenge. You can earn up to 8 points this week and put your team righ tin the mix, even if you haven’t played yet. You can get your team into the top 3 this week at quizzo (most winnable spots right now? Probably O’Neals or Ugly American). Or you can win one of the upcoming special events quizzes, which are worth double points. I’ll keep you updated on when the next one of those is going down. Philly Week at Quizzo

We enter Week 5 of the Autumn Invite with a lot going down. And we’re in for an interesting week, because we’re going with all Philly questions. From Ben Franklin to Joe Frazier, from City Hall to the Great Northeast, we’re going to find out how much you know about the city you live in. It starts tonight in Manayunk at 6 p.m., continues at O’Neals at 8*, and moves to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. Hope to see ya tonight!

*Since I’m coming from Manayunk, I could be a few minutes late. So, uh, kind of like usual.

Johnny To Host his First Ever Quizzo in Manayunk on Tuesday Night

This Tuesday night I will be hosting a quizzo in conjunction with WHYY’s website Newsworks.org to celebrate the one year anniversary of their site. This is going to be a very local-centric quiz, with all questions about Philadelphia and most questions about the East Falls/Manayunk area. It will go down at the Manayunk Brewery at 6 p.m. sharp on Tuesday night and admission to be free. So if you’ve got any friends in the Manayunk area, please do me a favor and give them a heads up. Gonna be a fun quiz.

Relive the 1911 World Series in Real Time (plus 100 years)

Working on a very cool project over at phillysportshistory.com. I am currently recreating the 1911 World Series exactly as it unfolded, 100 years to the day, as if I were a writer at the time. I am featuring the pitchers of each game, plus  using a cool online tool that allows you to “watch” each game live, exactly 100 years to the hour after it happened. Tons of cool info and some really incredible old photos I have dug up. If you are a baseball fan, or even just a history buff, I think you are really going to get a kick out of this.

Last Losers Quiz Tonight at North Star

We had a lot of fun with the Losers Quiz last week. But in case you missed it, you’ve got one last shot tonight. We’ll be doing it up at the North Star Bar at 7 p.m. As always, I’ll have drinks to give away via name that tune, and the place has plenty of parking on site in case you’re coming in from Center City or West Philly. Pretty wide open and lots of parity. Hope to see you tonight!

Toots and the Martells Win Twin Peaks Quizzo

A great night at the POPE on Sunday night, as Toots and the Martells proved that they knew move about Twin Peaks and David Lynch than anyone else in Philly, though not by a whole lot. We had a lot of fun with this one, and I’ll post some of the questions in the coming days. But Toots only missed 4 questions the whole night, and answered all of the bonus questions correctly, to finish with a 117 and edge Garbanzo, who finished with a 112. Best team name prize went to Leo Johnson’s Ponytail.
