Father Divine, of the famous Divine Lorraine Hotel, was a 65-year old religious leader who married this 21-year old woman in 1946. She is still alive and living in the area. Who is she?
Wild Card Week Begins Tonight
This week is your last chance to earn an invite to the JGT Spring Invitational. Here’s how it works: if you can earn a First or 2nd place finish at any quiz this week, you earn an invite to Sunday’s Big Event at the City Tap House. Tonight is one of your best shots to do it. Avenue Hustlas at North Star and Sidecardigans at Sidecar are your two favorites, but it’s anybody’s ballgame. North Star starts at 7, Sidecar at 9:15. Half off hummus at North Star, along with $3 Kenzingers. All bitter beers are a dollar off at Sidecar.
As for categories this week, I let some of the last place teams pick them. Their picks were:
Art history
Video games
Religion
Public transit
1980s
Pop Culture
So those are this week’s topics (there was one more last place team that gave me a topic but I can’t remember what it was. Shoot me a line if it was you). Hope to see ya tonight!
Final Springvitational Scores Posted
Here they are, folks, our scores at the conclusion of 9 weeks. Teams in the yellow are eligible for the bonus prize. Teams in green have earned an invite. I will contact you guys this weekend with your invites. Teams in orange are on the bubble…they have a very good chance of receiving an invite, since every time we do this a few teams can’t make it and other teams join forces. I’ll contact them once I’ve heard from the other teams. Teams in the blue, there is probably only one shot left to play in the Invitational and get to hear the legendary Kenn Kweder. You will have to finish in the Top 2 next week at one of the quizzes to earn a wild card birth. I’ll give you more info early next week.

Last Chance to Earn Points in JGTSpI
This is it, folks. If you want to earn an invite to the JGTSpI, this is your last chance. There are two physical challenges, which you can do for up to 10 points. Pose on a SEPTA bus (1 point apiece for up to 5 points) and pose in front of the city skyline (1 point apiece for up to 5 points). Just post the photos here.
Right Now in Sports
- First off, Chip Chantry and the rest of the Bird Text fam dropped this little jewel (above) yesterday. Thought you might dig it.
- My latest column in the Philly Post is about cheering for opponent’s injuries and booing the home team. Of course, it’s interesting that Hunter Pence has no problem with people booing him.
- The Mets starting pitcher on Tuesday, Miguel Batista, gave up a home run to Ruben Amaro, Jr. in 1992.
- Last week’s podcast is worth a listen. Special guest Chris Young and I discussed Junior Seau’s death, and whether the tide is going to recede on the NFL’s popularity in the near future.
- I will be on WIP 94.1 tonight at 12:20 to discuss my column in the Philly Post.
