Day of Games Saturday!

Just a quick reminder to get your team of 4 together for Day of Games on Saturday at City Tap House. I’m not gonna tell you again…this is going to be an insane amount of fun. Remember how great field day was in school? Well this is just like that except with great beer. If you want to play, contact Jess at jmcgarvey@publichouseusa.com. There are slots left for 6 more teams. Hope to see you there!

Your Best Chance for a Win? Tonight.

With 5 different winners in the past 5 weeks, things are wide open at Industry. If you are looking to score a win, well here you go. I am practically handing you one. Action starts at 6:30. There is plenty of parking nearby, the burger is excellent and only $8, they’ve got $3 beer specials each week, and we’re going to play Name That Tune and French Fry Face-off. It doesn’t get any better than that.

On to the Bards at 9 p.m. $3 Lagers and a chance to knock off the #1 team in quizzo. Wild card round tonight will be “Famous Logs”. See ya tonight!

Miserable Log in His 30s to Host Quizzo Tonight

The critics have not been kind to Johnny Goodtimes lately, especially Adam P. (above), in this review on Yelp.

First off, the website lists that it starts at 10pm (which I even called to confirm). The host didn’t show up until 10:40, which according to our waitress, is the new standard this summer. And as it turns out, Johnny ‘Goodtimes’ is actually a miserable guy in his 30s with the personality and emceeing skills of a log.

It doesn’t end there. Trippindicular on reddit states, I’ve done Johnny Goodtimes quizzo and hated it. Too may people, he was trying to talk over people, and too much time between rounds.

Behindtheaegis confirms. Johnny Goodtimes is the worst.

So if you’re looking for a quizmaster who shows up late, takes forever between rounds, and has the personality of a log, you should be at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m.! (Roughly. Apparently there is a new standard this summer), where your log-like quizmaster will probably spend most of his time trying to talk over you. If you are interested in having a “Goodtime” tonight, might I suggest the Black Sheep at 8 p.m.? (I’d call ahead to confirm that 8 p.m. time, though LORD KNOWS what time he’ll actually show.) Expect tonight’s wild card round to have something to do with “logs”. It’ll be the worst.

Day of Games This Saturday. Do Yourself a Favor and Be There.

That’s the current forecast for this Saturday. If you can think of anything better to do on an 85 degree day than play cornhole, drink beer, listen to music, and throw water balloons at your opponents, then you’re lying. There is nothing better to do on an 85 degree day unless you’re Chris Issak and they tell you to roll around on the beach with Helena Christensen. But otherwise this will be the funnest thing happening this Saturday in Philadelphia and that is a stone cold guarantee. Go here for details. And watch the commercial for it tonight on Phillies Nation TV.

Big Money Tuesday

We kick it off at O’Neals at 8 p.m., where things have been rather raucous lately. The Savage Ear took a spill last week. Can they regain their composure? They’ll have to do so with a guest host, as the Sandman takes the reins at O’Neals.

Meanwhile, on to the City Tap House, where the Jesters of Tortuga and Underground Bard have been waging war. Can you make a name for yourself by kncoking off two of our top 4 teams at the same bar? And a quick heads-up: tonight’s quiz is the easiest I’ve written in quite a while, so I expect scores to be sky high. See ya tonight!

Quizzo Tonight

We start week 5 of the Invitational with quizzo at the North Star tonight at 7 p.m. Word of warning: we are doing it upstairs in the dining hall tonight, due to the Dick Dale show downstairs. An excellent opportunity to get a win (Winning score last week was a 75). Cheap Kenzos and hummus.

On to Sidecar at 9:30. The Sidecardigans seem to be warming up. Can you cool them off? Gonna be a little more science this week. See ya tonight!

JGT Power Rankings

1. Jesters of Tortuga (CTH). Meh. Last week: #1

2. Duane’s World (Black Sheep). ALmost lost the #2 spot last week, but wrangle it back with another win at the Sheep. Last week: T-2

3. Savage Ear (O’Neals). One dominant performance away from a solo #2 ranking, but lose a heartbreaker at O’Neals and drop to the #2 spot. Last week: T-2

4. Underground Bards (CTH). Incredible how evenly these guys match up with the Jesters. In the past four weeks, they’ve won once by 1 point, and lost twice in OT. Last week: #5

5. The Jams (Vous). After a recent slide, they return to the Top 5 with a big win at the Vous. Last week: #6

6. The Sidecardigans (Sidecar). Two straight at the Sidecar has these guys rocketing up the charts. Last week: #7

7. Hooter and Chuff (O’Neals). Big upset win over the Savage Ear. This team desperately needed this. Questions were being asked about their recent slide. Last week: NR

8. Careless Fister (North Star). They haven’t learned yet: this isn’t a hobby. It’s a cult. And if you want the oracle who runs this ranking system to respect you, you can’t be taking “weeks off”. Last week: #4

9. Inkspot (North Star). They tend to clean up the mess when Careless Fister doesn’t show. We’re on the brink of a rivalry at the North Star, if only Fister comes to the light. Last week: #15

10. Pawnee Goddesses (Industry). Where did these ladies come from? Are they destined to become real contenders or one hit wonders? Time will tell. Last week: NR

11. Exhausted Nihilist.

12. Ruby Tuesday

13. Italian Beatles

14. Why Can’t Us

15. L. Ron Hubbard’s Diabetics

16. Ghoul McLanahan.

17. Minge

18. Blazing Sea Nuggets

19. Popesack

20. Hot Mess

Summer Invitational Scores Through 4 Weeks

Here ya go, our scores at the midway point. Teams in Yellow would be up for a bonus prize if the season ended today, teams in Red would also make the cut, and teams in Blue have some work to do. If you are hoping to earn an invite and want to earn some points, I’ll make this simple for you…The Industry is BY FAR the bar to go to if you want to earn a win. And it’s not really even close.
