Chris Cummins, a regular contributor at Geekadelphia and Topless Robot, will be hosting a special round of quizzo tonight at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m.  Geek Week continues this evening (much to the excitement of those of you who are full fledged geeks, and dismay and blank stares of those of you who have a life outside of total nerddom). Chris has written and will be asking tonight’s Wild Card Round. Also, $2 PBRs.

We kicked off Geek Week last night, and it proved to be plenty geeks. Computers, Role playing games, Geek songs, it’s a veritable cornucopia of geekiness. It rolls on tonight at O’Neals at 8 p.m. and City Tap House at 10:15.

We’re going to be raising money this week at quizzo for the family of Jose Aparicio. Aparicio, a barback at the Public House, was gunned down by human trash a couple of weeks ago in South Philadelphia when he wouldn’t hand over his backpack. The family is now trying to raise money to send his body back to Mexico for burial, and the Public House has set up a website to do so (If you are not playing quizzo this week and want to donate, you can do so through that website). I’m asking everyone playing this week to please donate a few dollars.  I assure you that 100% of the donations I receive will go towards the Aparicio family. Thanks.

Comic books, video games, Dungeons and Dragons and much more geekiness at quizzo this week. A couple of rounds provided by our friends at Geekadelphia, and plenty of geeky goodness served up by yours truly. Gonna be a fun week to quiz! • A lot of cool stuff going on right now to tell you youngsters about. First of all, we’re going to be doing an all-Philly quizzo at an awesome venue in a couple of weeks. We’re headed to the Fleisher Institute (7th and Catherine) on October 25th to have an all-Philly quiz. Such a cool venue, I’m excited to do a gig there. I’ll have more details in the coming days.

• Our friends at Geekadelphia are gonna be helping us out with next week’s quiz. Chris Cummins and Jo Ann Pincushion are going to be writing questions and even hosting a round or two next week!

• The picture above was a magazine given to me by quizzo regular Susana this week. How awesome is that thing? Good Time Books were writing the world’s best quizzes back in the 1940s. It’s obvious that the Good Time name is just a great American tradition when it comes to trivia.

• I am absolutely heartbroken about this…an employee at Public House was murdered last week. His name was Jose Aparicio, and he worked 15 hours a day, 7 days a week, sacrificing his own life so that his children could have a better one. And some piece of human garbage killed him a couple of weeks ago. His family is trying to raise money so that his body can be returned to Mexico for a proper funeral. I think we should all chip in a few dollars next week at quizzo to try to ease a bit of the financial burden as his family deals with this heartbreak. So Quizzo for the Cause is on for next week. • I am working on an extremely cool project right now with Phillies Nation. We’re going to be matching up the 1929 A’s against the 2008 Phillies in a Philly Dream Series. Should be a lot of fun. More details coming soon.
