Double Points Night Tonight

double

Fun quiz this week. A lot of ridiculous guilty pleasure questions, and some legal questions to keep the quiz from getting too absurd. Action starts at O’Neals at 8 p.m. $3.50 margaritas and $3.50 Mexican beers, as well as the lovely Amanda behind the bar.

On to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. $3 Gansett Lagers, and Becky and Howie workin’ the room.

And a great opportunity to earn bonus points, as tonight is double points night, and both venues are wide open. Yeah, Jesters are a pain in the ass, but they’re standings don’t count since their on double secret probation right now.  So by finishing 2nd you can earn 10 points in the JGTSpI. See ya tonight!

Invitational to Be Held on May 18th at Field House

Just wanted to give ya a heads up a little earlier than usual on when and where the Invitational will be this season. Gonna be at the Field House on Sunday, May 18th. And no, this isn’t the same Field House that used to host Jersey Shore parties. Andy from Tap House and his crew took it over a couple of years ago and now it’s a damn awesome bar, complete with bubble hockey, Pop-a-Shot, great food, and awesome beers on tap. They’ve also got plenty of room, a stage, and will hook us up with some specials for the event. More details coming soon, but for now save the date. Not set on the time yet, but it will be late afternoon/early evening (probably 5 or 6).

JGT Invitational Scores After Two Weeks

springvitational.jpg

Here’s our scores after two weeks of the JGT Invitational. A few things of note: Inkspot leads despite not having won yet. They post on twitter each week before, during or after quizzo, and teams earn a point each time they tweet about JGT Quizzo.  It’s an easy way to start earning points. They were also helped by the fact that opening night of the Invitational was a double points night, and they wore a lot of green for St. Patty’s Day last week. That’s why teams at the top are from North Star and Sidecar. Don’t worry, teams from other bars, your time is coming. This week’s double points night is Tuesday, at O’Neals and City Tap House. 10 points for the winners, 6 points for 2nd, and 2 points for 3rd.

As for the Invitational itself, it will be held at Field House on Sunday, May 18th. More details coming soon.

If you haven’t scored yet, don’t sweat it. Tons of time to get on the scoreboard. It’s a ten week season, and lots of opportunities to score points coming up. In fact, there has just been a physical challenge posted on the facebook page. An easy way to score 6 quick points.

Crazy Music Round Tonight

frenchfries

Tonight’s music round is fairly inspired. I think it’s one of the more interesting ones I’ve ever put together. Some teams loved it last night…other teams not so much. It’s well worth a play. The topic is still international, and it’s an interesting quiz. We had a thriller at the Vous and a late comeback at the Sheep.

Action starts at Industry at 6:30. $3 beer specials and terrific food. On to the Bards at 9 p.m. $3 Lagers and always a good crowd. French fries and candy to give away. Hope to see ya tonight!

Punishment Handed Down to Jesters of Tortuga

Fred_Phelps

The Jesters of Tortuga decided yet again to do something I hate more than cheating…they formed a Super team, complete with Kenney, Garbo, and Jam Master Phil. I gave them an out before the game (give Garbo to another team) to avoid punishment, but they decided against it. And so, therefore, due to their obstinance, they will have to be punished. Harshly. And so they will not earn any points over the next five weeks. Which means that if they win at the Bards, the 2nd place team will get the 5 points, 2nd place 3, etc. So it makes the Bards and City Tap House quite attractive options if you’re looking for JGTSpI points.

It’s time for the annual tradition of the JGT Bracket-tacular. Click here to get get started. (If you don’t have a Yahoo account already, it takes about 30 seconds to create one)

This year we’re doing it through Shibe Sports, the sports store some friends and I opened on 13th Street. (I’ll have more details on the store in the next couple of weeks. Gonna do our big redesign in early April, after which I’ll be promoting the  hell out of it.) Got gift certificates to give away to Milkboy, Industry, and Sidecar as prizes, as well as a $75 gift certificate to Shibe and a $25 gift certificate to Kermit’s Bake Shoppe for the first place team. And yes, there will be a 50th place prize again this year. So be sure to get your brackets filled out before Thursday at noon!
