Double Points Week Continues Tonight

photo-5

Two more shots to get big points down the home stretch of the JGT Invitational. We start tonight at O’Neals at 8 p.m. Great opportunity to get a win and earn some points…and keep in mind, there are two quizzes this week, so you could alwyas try once tonight and try again Wednesday or Thursday. Come on people, get serious. Stop kidding yourselves…you NEED this. You also need a $5 taco plate prepared by the one and only Mohammad, the friendliest chef in Philadelphia. And possibly a $3.50 Mexican beer served by the lovely Amanda behind the bar.

On to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. Different can specials each week. Tough spot to get a win but if you do you’re an instant legend. Hope to see ya tonight!

Halloween Spooktacular Wraps Up Tonight

quizzohalloween

Your last chance to play the 11th annual Halloween Spooktacular is, fittingly enough, on Halloween itself. And I’m offering DOUBLE POINTS at both spots. It is the same quiz I hosted earlier this week, so that means that you can’t play a 2nd time, and it also means that the Jesters of Tortuga will not be playing at either spot. So both spots are WIDE OPEN opportunities to earn 10 points or more in the JGTAI. Keep in mind, if you wear your Halloween costume or the colors orange and black, you can earn your team points as well.

We start at Industry at 6:30 p.m. $3 Ommegang Rare Vos (that is not a misprint) and delicious burgers. On to the Bards at 9 p.m. $3 Lagers. Hope to see ya tonight!

Week 6 of JGTAI Kicks Off Tonight

We’re heading into Week 6 of the JGTAI, and it’s time to get serious. Only a few more weeks left in the regular season (The Big Event will be on November 17th.) Couple of great opportunities to score tonight. First of all, we’re gonna be at North Star at 7 p.m., and it’s a DOUBLE POINTS NIGHT, so it’s 10 points for a win. If you’re looking for points, this would be a great way to get them. Great specials, and tons of prizes to give away with Name That Tune.

On to Sidecar at 9:30 p.m. Can you take down the Sidecardigans? No theme this week, just a good ol’ fashioned quiz. Hope to see ya tonight!

Geek Week Continues as Jo Pincushion to Host a Round Tonight at Industry!

Jo Pincushion, regular contributor at Geekadelphia and host of “Creepy Basement” (above. Us basement-show hosting types stick together) will be hosting a round for horror film geeks tonight at Industry. Pincushion is not only a fan of horror films, she’s also an instructor. You wanna learn more about the horror genre? Check out her class on October 28th in Radnor.

As for tonight’s quiz, you can expect plenty of geekiness, both in horror and in video games, comic books, and computers. Action starts at 6:30, and it’s a DOUBLE POINTS WEEK AT INDUSTRY. 10 points for the winner, with different winners almost every week. Great chance to get on the board in the JGTAI, and $3 craft beers and $8 burgers (with fries).

On to the Bards at 9 p.m. where I will give a $20 bonus to any team that can beat the Jesters of Tortuga, in addition to the $40 gift certificate. So if you can knock off those bastards, you can earn $60 in prizes. Well worth the shot. And $3 Lagers. See ya tonight!

Chris Cummins, a regular contributor at Geekadelphia and Topless Robot, will be hosting a special round of quizzo tonight at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m.  Geek Week continues this evening (much to the excitement of those of you who are full fledged geeks, and dismay and blank stares of those of you who have a life outside of total nerddom). Chris has written and will be asking tonight’s Wild Card Round. Also, $2 PBRs.

On to Black Sheep at 8 p.m. Hope to see ya tonight!

Quizzo For the Cause

WCAU_000000005203361_722x406_50469443586

We’re going to be raising money this week at quizzo for the family of Jose Aparicio. Aparicio, a barback at the Public House, was gunned down by human trash a couple of weeks ago in South Philadelphia when he wouldn’t hand over his backpack. The family is now trying to raise money to send his body back to Mexico for burial, and the Public House has set up a website to do so (If you are not playing quizzo this week and want to donate, you can do so through that website). I’m asking everyone playing this week to please donate a few dollars.  I assure you that 100% of the donations I receive will go towards the Aparicio family. Thanks.
