Double Points Night Tonight

Things have been a little crazy the past few weeks with Eagles and Labor Day, but now we’re back in the swing of things on Mondays. Action starts at North Star at 7 p.m. Great chance to get a win and get on the board.

On to Sidecar at 9:30 p.m. Great bar, and probably a great night to get a win (and earn 10 points). Let’s go!

JGTAI Scores After Two Weeks!

autumninvite

Here ya go! Our scores after two weeks of quizzin’. Lots of points were given away with our Bonus question this past week. Well, there is a new one up. Great way to earn points, and to get to know a bit more about each other as well.

Teams in yellow and orange would make the cut if the season ended today. But the season doesn’t end today. Lots of time left to play. So get your team in gear and get out to quizzo, so you can earn an invite to the JGT Autumn Invitational!

Action starts again on Monday at 7 p.m. at North Star and 9:30 at Sidecar. Since both were cancelled last week, both will be double points quizzes this week.

News and Notes

  • First of all, have a very cool event going down on this evening (Saturday) at our store; Jack Rooney, who grew up next to Shibe Park in the 1920s and 30s, recently wrote a book about his experience called Bleaches in the Bedroom. He’ll be in the store to talk about growing up next door to Shibe Park and about the 1929 A’s.
  • We’ll also have Scott Alberts of the Philadelphia Athletic baseball club talking about baseball in Philly in the 1860s. We’ll also have free beer and snacks. You can read more and RSVP here.
  • We had a first this week, as #1 Government Team Competitor and Superfluity  tied for the 2nd straight week. Never had that happen before with the same two teams on consecutive weeks.
  • Pics will be posted later this weekend. JGTAI scores will be posted Monday. We’ll also have the return of the JGT Power Rankings this week as well.
  • We’re having an OKtoberfest Day of Games at City Tap House next Saturday. More details coming Monday.

Jersey Quiz Tonight

Interesting quiz. Tough impossible round. One team blew a 10 point lead in the last round at O’Neals and the Jesters improbably blew a 2-point lead and lost by 13 at City Tap House. So it’ll be interesting to see how the quiz plays tonight.

We start at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. Always a great deal, always great service, and things have been a little quieter lately so you should call and make a reservation. 215-985-1163.

On to the Black Sheep at 8:15 p.m. And I’ve got some bad news to share: no mas Eileen. After a decade, she’s moving on from the Sheep. We’ll try to do our best without her. Gonna be pretty weird…she and I have been teammates since the days of Doc Watson’s. (She also served Tuesdays at O’Neals before moving to the Black Sheep.) I’ve always enjoyed working with her. Not gonna be the same without her there. The quiz must go on, though with heavy hearts.

A quik ntoe about THursdays quiz: the quizzo at Industry will be a double points quiz in the JGTAI, meaning the winning team will get 10 points.

No Quizzo Tonight Due to Birds Game

moose

No quizzo tonight due to the Eagles game, but we still have some fun stuff going on. Come by the store (13th Street, between Walnut and Sansom) at 6ish to see a really cool presentation from former Mitchell and Ness owner Peter Capolino. We’ll then be doing a Chinese auction at Field House for the game at 8 p.m. Free to play, and lots of free giveaways. Hope to see ya tonight!

We’ll be back in action tomorrow night. Only one quiz this week. But there is an easy way to earn JGTAI points. Just post your favorite poem on the JGT Quizzo Facebook wall.

History of Eagles Jerseys and Eagle Watch Party on Monday Night

eaglesjerseys

There is no quizzo on Monday night. The Eagles game will be on and everyone in Philly will be watching it, no matter how distraught they are about Shady McCoy’s tips at burger joints. But just because we called off quizzo for the night doesn’t mean we called off the fun. We’ve got a really cool event going down before the quiz, as Peter Capolino, the former owner of Mitchell and Ness, is going to show us various uniforms the Eagles have worn through the years. We did one of these in August with Phillies jerseys and it was awesome.  So we’re extremely excited to have Peter back to talk Birds.

After the talk, we’re going to head over to Field House to watch the game on their big screen TV and do a Chinese auction, where we’ll be giving away shirts and other prizes when the Eagles score. We did it for the WOrld Cup and had a lot of fun, and it will be similar for the Birds game. That will kick off at 8 p.m. So let’s get together on Monday night, even when we’re not answering questions, and watch the Birds. Hope to see ya then!

Sandman to Host Tonight

The Sandman is gonna fill in for me tonight. As some of you have noticed the past few nights, I’ve been shuffling around rather slowly. I have a condition the professionals call Ole Slew Foot, which has made walking painful. Anyways, I’m gonna stay off my feet tonight and the Sandman will fill in. Meaning no French Fry face-off, but there will still be JGTAI points on the line. So get your butts to the Industry at 6:30 p.m. and the Bards at 9 p.m. The Sandman does a good job. You’ll dig it. And hopefully my enormous Hulk Foot will reduce in size in time for next week.

Quizzo Tonight

After our Comcast Quiz, we move to O’Neals at 8 p.m. Great chance to open the Fall season with a win. $3.50 margaritas and Mexican beers, and $5 burritos, made by the most beloved chef on South Street, Mohammad.

On to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. The kids are back in town. How will they handle tonight’s quiz? A music audio round, and an interesting wild card round. $175 purse at the Tap, and a new special quizzo menu, including $10 pizzas. Hope to see ya tonight!

BYO Quizzo at Comcast Center Tonight

unnamed-2

Tonight’s quizzo action starts at the Markets at Comcast Center at 5:30 p.m., as the latest in our BYO quizzes there takes place. We’ve had a really good turnout the past few quizzes. Hope we get another nice one tonight. ANyone who comes gets a bucket of ice for their booze and $5 off anything in the Market. Winner walks with $100 in gift certs. Hope to see ya there!
