The Deal on Quizzo Tonight

OK, kids, in case you hadn’t heard, the Black Sheep quiz is cancelled for tonight due to the Phils. The Rendezvous quiz is on, BUT IT WILL BE STARTING AT 6 P.M. SHARP. I am guessing that people are going to start pouring in to watch the Phils game around 7:30, so I want to be done by then. (Plus, I’m going to go to the game tonight, so I wanna be on the subway by 7:40.)  Hope to see ya at 6 p.m. tonight, and hope to see a few hours later on Broad Street. Lets go Phils!

Quizzo Tonight (And a few notes on Saturday)

We kick it off at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m., then move to the Black Sheep at 8 p.m. $2 McSorleys Black Lagers  at the Vous this week. Drank way too many of them Monday night. Possibly the best beer deal in town right now. Good stuff. On to the Black Sheep, where after a few months of wall to wall insanity, there has been more of chance to grab a table lately. Things kick off at 8 p.m.

As for the event, it will begin, once again at the East Falls Marketplace at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets can be gotten at the door. More details, including ticket prices and entertainment, coming tomorrow. I just have to finalize things with the owner of the Marketplace. See ya tonight!

Fall Brawl October 17th

MarketPlaceHey kids, just a reminder that Fall Brawl is going down at the East Falls Marketplace on Saturday, October 17th at 5 p.m. There is a beer tasting event before the Brawl at the indoor market, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, the very cool Laurel Hill Cemetery is right across the street. Be sure to check out both before we get started. More details coming Monday. Photos of winners coming this afternoon.

Bounty Bowl Tonight

Alright, kids, I’m heading down to the ballpark to go again today. (I still need to find tix, so if anyone has any extras let me know.) Quizzo tonight, I don’t know how in the hell I’m gonna come up with questions, but I’ll figure something out. Ugly American at 8 p.m. I really need a team to come in and push L. Ron Hubbard’s Diabetics for the crown. All craft beers, good food, and of course the infamous Lady Di. Last week, when some rude jerk told her to shut up, she said, and I quote, “Don’t talk to me like that mother f***er! I’m a lady!

Then on to the Bards for the Bounty Bowl. It is up to $30 now. Anyone who can knock off Sofa Kingdom wins $30 cash in addition to the $40 gift certificate, a $70 Prize. Action starts at 10:15 p.m. Hope to see ya tonight!

Bounty Bowl Tonight!

BOUNTYSteak Em Up continues to roll at the Bards, and the Bounty is now up to $25. Whoever can knock them off their high horse at 10:15 p.m. gets $25 cash in addition to the $40 gift certificate. Also, things have been a little quiet at the Ugly American the past two weeks. It’s a great bar. I’d really like to get a big crowd in there tonight. Get your acts together and get in there. 8 p.m.

When Hip Hop Is Beautiful

While hip hop has largely become a mockery of ignorant morons saying “Che-ya”, bragging about smacking bitches and shooting people, there are occasionally wonderful exceptions to the rule. One of them was in the music round this week. This sentimental paean to a difficult childhood (by RZA) still gives me chickenskin every time I hear it. A great reminder that this form of music can inspire wonderful poetry.

Quizzo News and Notes

falls
Getting the party started tonight at 6:15 at the Locust Rendezvous, where the Jams look to keep the ball rolling. Then we move to Black Sheep at 8 p.m. Music round last night was a lot of fun, and yes it covers several genres, so it should keep the playing field fairly even.

We are still on for Fall Slam on Saturday, October 17th at the East Falls Marketplace. Kickoff will be 5 p.m. Should be a lot of fun. There is a free beer tasting going on beforehand, so feel free to swing by early. It is also across the street from Laurel Hill Cemetery. If you’ve never been, be sure to check it out. Unless cemeteries freak you out like they do the Lovely Ginger.

Finally, we have two trivia questions over at isportacus that still need to be answered, one about the Eagles and one about the Phillies.
