Famous Females Quizzo Tonight

Well, good news and bad news at the Vous, and they’re both the same thing. The Jams will not be playing tonight. Therefore, there will be no bounty, but it also means that all other teams will have a better shot at winning now that the white hot Jams are out of the picture. Action starts at 6:15 p.m. $2 Miller High Life. On to the Black Sheep at 8 p.m. Definitely a good time to get a table. Things were wild there for a few months, but they’ve quieted down the last couple of weeks. They’ve also added a quite a few new spring items to the menu, and they’ve gotten some great beers on tap lately.

Of course, the quiz is a Famous Females quiz, with a wild card round written by my wife thrown in for good measure. Turns out that it’s a fairly difficult quiz, but a lot of fun. We had a good time with it last night.

As you’ve noticed, we’ve redone the site. Hope you like it. I’m quite excited about it, and feeling fairly inspired. I’m going to start the Top 10 rankings again next week.

Quizzo News and Notes

A good week on the quiz circuit, with nice crowds at all of our quizzes. Thanks to everyone who came out this week. We had an upset at the Ugly, a shootout at the Black Sheep, and the Jams just kept on rolling. Next week is ladies week. Now, that doesn’t mean that only ladies can play, but it means that questions will be designed with the ladies in mind. Can I do this without being labeled a sexist? I have no idea. But famous women, fashion, Kool and the Gang songs, and probably a few questions written by my wife will all be play. Should be a fun quiz.

In other news…if you are a Republican, please remember to vote for Steve-O on Tuesday. He’s gotten endorsements from the Inquirer and the Daily News, and he’s hoping to pull the upset.

And speaking of democracy, be sure to vote for your favorite Phillies moustache in the Phillysportshistory.com Face Furniture Contest.

French Fry Thursday

We kick it off at Ugly American at 8 p.m. Looking for a win? This is probably your best bet. No prohibitive favorites here, and $2 Lagers. On to the Bards at 10:15 p.m. Picture round tonight, and some totally sweet last place prizes. Hope to see ya tonight! UPDATE: A terrible music round tonight. Just a little heads up.

Bounty Bowl Tonight

Ok, so the bounty on the Jams is up to $35. (They were no-shows last week.) Anyone who can knock them off and takes first will be sitting pretty. $3 Dundee Honey Brown Pints and $2 Lionshead. Action starts at 6:15 p.m. On to the Black Sheep, where last week the Missing Heads set a new record by blowing a 20 point lead heading into Round Four to lose by 10. A remarkably performance. 3 different winners in the past three weeks. Is this your team’s week? Action starts at 8 p.m. Hope to see ya tonight!

Quizzo News and Notes

First off, we kick off tonight with the quiz at O’Neals at 8 p.m. $3.50 margaritas and a $50 gift certificate for the winner. On to the City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. Big prizes, $3 Sly Fox.

Keep in mind: there is a $35 Bounty on the Jams at the Vous Wednesday night. Also, next week is going to be Ladies Week. All questions will be about famous women, and the things that women love. Which, needless to say, could get me in a lot of hot water and derided as a sexist. But hey, that’s half the fun! Hope to see ya tonight!

Simpson’s Quiz on Sunday

Hey kids, just a reminder for all you Simpsons fans that there will be a Simpsons quiz this Sunday night at 8 p.m. at the Ugly American hosted by Mike Minion. All questions will be from the first ten seasons of the show. There will be a picture round and, since it is Mother’s Day, a round on mothers on the show. Plus the UA will be doling out their always great beer specials. May 8th at 7 p.m.

Cinco de Mayo Quiz Tonight

Hola, mis amigos. Tonight’s wild card round will undoubtedly be Mexican themed, and we’re going to have a lot of fun at the Bards. $2 Corona ponies, $4 margaritas, and $10 margarita pitchers. They’ll also be serving guacamole, Tacitos, Quesadillas, Nachos, etc. Gonna be a really fun time. The greatest Mexican party at an Irish bar ever. Action starts at 10:15 p.m. There are rumors that Steak Em Up might not make it, but that has not been confirmed.

We kick off at Ugly American at 8 p.m. $2 Lagers. The past 4 weeks, L. Ron Hubbard’s Diabetics has been all other teams’ El Guapos. Shall you face your El Guapo tonight?

Bounty Bowl Tonight

Action starts at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. After seemingly a new winner every week, the Jams have been on fire lately, winning 6 in a row (and 10 of their last 11, their only loss a one point loss to Brown Betty.) Therefore there is a $30 Prize Bounty on their head. Winner gets a $30 prize in addition to the normal gift certificate if they knock off the Jams.

On to the Black Sheep, which has quieted down lately. I know a month or so ago it was impossible to score a table, but it’s actually been fairly quiet the last two weeks. If you want to play, tonight could be a good night. Duane’s World is always tough to beat, but their have been 4 different winners in the past 4 weeks, so there seems to be a lot of parity at the Sheep lately. Action starts at 8 p.m.

A very interesting Round 2 this week, unlike any other ever done. Most teams have crashed and burned, but you’ll definitely learn a little something. And Round Three is actually pretty damn cool, I think.

Also tonight, Koob and Kristy are hosting their first quizzo at National Mechanics. Pop Culture quiz. It starts at 8 p.m. Hope to see ya tonight!

Big Money Tuesday Tonight!

We are back in action tonight at O’Neals. Action starts at 8 p.m. $3.50 margaritas and a great chance to score a win. 5 different winners in the past 6 weeks, and a hefty $50 gift certificate for the winner.

On to City Tap House, which has been off the chain the past few weeks. Of course, the $100 first prize doesn’t hurt. Quiz starts at 10:15 p.m. Hope to see ya tonight!

QUICK NOTES: A $30 bounty on the Jams Wednesday night at the Locust Rendezvous. Also, Koob and Kristy are going to start a 9:30 p.m. quiz next Monday at Artful Dodger.

Steak Em Up Wins JGTSpI

Steak Em Up trailed heading into the final round of the JGTSpI on Sunday, but turned it on in the final round, and knocked off Autumn Invitational champions the Exhausted Nihilists 123-109. The match was complete with a flower round and a live music round, as Steve-O not only played between rounds but did an 11 song round about the sun (Seasons in the Sun, Cheap Sunglasses, etc.). Percy Street BBQ was a great venue and the food was spectacular as always. Special thanks to each and everyone came out. We’ll kick off the Summer Invitational after Memorial Day.
