Trivia Art (above, posing as me for Halloween a few years ago), will be hosting quizzo tonight as I am headed down to Austin for the Geek Bowl. Art is best known as the man behind Foobooz, so there’s a decent chance there will be a food or drink round tonight. Action starts at Ugly American at 8 p.m. We move to Bards at 10:15 p.m. And good news at the Bards…Steak Em Up will not be playing tonight, so it’s wide open. Hope you can make it out tonight!

So I was looking into whether or not it’s true that apples, potatoes, and onions all have the same taste, and that the only way we perceive a difference is their smell. Against my better judgement, I looked into what Yahoo! Answers said, since they never fail to give the absolute worst answers to everything.

In answer to the question of them having the same taste, here was the answer from Senthil R: Not exactly. but yes will have a small difference. Onion’s taste will not be the onion taste when you are unable to smell it, but still you can make out the difference.

Ok, so apparently there is a slight difference in taste between the three. Well, how is Senthil privy to this information? Under “sources”, it reads: My friend lost his smelling sensors when he had a head surgery.

We kick it off at the rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. Insanely great beer special this week. Flying Fish Grand Cru for $3. An excellent beer for a mindblowing price. On to the Black Sheep at 8 p.m., where we’ve been blowing it out the last few weeks. Get there early if you want a table. Oh, and a $20 Bounty on Duane’s World, and I’ll have Quizzo Bowl tickets on me for sale.

Well, we’ve been jamming lately at quizzo. But once place we’ve been quiet the past few weeks has been O’Neals. So we’re gonna go back to the old school on this one to get the party back under way there. Instead of just $3.50 Mexican beers, we’re doing a full on Mexican night on Tuesdays, just like we did when we started so many years ago. $5 quesadillas, nachos, and burritos. $3.50 shots of house tequila, and $5 shots of Cuervo tequila. And still $3.50 Mexican beers and margaritas. Plus we’re gonna have tons of giveaways. Action starts at 8 p.m.

On to the Bards at 10:15 p.m. There are rumors, as of yet unsubstantiated, that Steak Em Up will not be playing tonight. Apparently last week’s defeat was so traumatic for them that they can’t even step back into the Bards. If these rumors are true,  it’s gonna be a wide open field tonight. $3 Lagers. Probably not a bad idea to invite your sports nerd friend. Gonna be a few Super bowl questions. Hope to see you tonight!

Pat Gallen of Phillies Nation and I will be hosting a Super Sports Quizzo This Sunday at the Field House at 6 p.m. The winner will walk with 4 lower level tix to an upcoming Flyers game and a $50 gift certificate to Field House. 2nd Place will walk with $50 gift cert. Gonna have plenty of craft beers for $3 and $4. Should be a great quiz, with at least one baseball round, one Super Bowl round, and another three rounds on a variety of subjects, from basketball, baseball, hockey, tennis and even a little boxing. The Flyers game will be on TV and there will be plenty of cold beer on tap. Hope you can make it!
