JGT Power Rankings

Ok, so they’re two days late and numerous dollars short. Sorry. I was outta town on Monday and spent yesterday playing catchup. So here ya go. These do not include this week’s quizzes thus far.

1. Duane’s World (Black Sheep). 5 wins in a row keep them on top. A major test tonight, as the Jesters come to town. Last week: #1

2. Jesters of Tortuga (CTH/Bards). Lost at City Tap, but a win on THursday coupled with a Jams loss keeps them in the 2-hole. Last week: #2

3. We Got Nothin’/Savage Ear (O’Neals). A win in Double OT at an O’Neals packed with top teams get vaults the into the #3 spot.

4. Jams (Locust Rendezvous). A devastating loss at the Vous drops them a spot in the rankings. Last week: #3

5. Penis Penis Vagina Butts (City Tap House). A 10-point win over the Jesters launches them onto the national consciousness. Last week: NR

6. L. Ron Hubbard’s Diabetics (Locust Rendezvous). Are the Diabetics back? A perennial Top-5 team, they had fallen on hard times recently. But a blowout win at the Vous last week has caused other teams to take notice. Last week: NR

7. Careless Fister (North Star). Two straight wins at North Star. This is a team to keep an eye on. Last week: #6

8. New and Improved Team Name (O’Neals). Lose a heartbreaker in OT at O’Neals. Still think this team has the talent to make a run at the Top 5. Last week: #7

9. Underground Bard (CTH). A third place finish knocks them well out of the Top 5. Be interesting to see if they make a move to Industry to get their rep up. Last week: #4

T-10. Laika, the First Dog in Space (Sidecar). Return from South America to get a win at Sidecar and rocket into the top 10. Last week: NR

T-10. Why Can’t Us? (Industry) The former top team at Ugly American is looking to make a run at the new Pennsport spot. Can they keep it going?

12. Exhausted Nihilists.

13. Hobo Cop

14. Sidecardigans.

15. Inkspot

16. Popesack

17. Jitney Spears.

18. I Am a God; Where Are My Damn Croissants?

19. Blazing Sea Nuggets.

20. Tempura House.

The Week In Review, and The Week Ahead

Gonna be an extremely interesting summer, as the Summer Invitational kicks off next week with a quiz unlike any we’ve ever had before. You’re going to be supplying the answers, I’ll supply the questions. There are a ton of questions that I want YOUR answers to over on facebook, so if you haven’t already posted them please do so. (If you’re not a member of the club, just ask to join and I’ll quickly get you in.)

A wild week at quizzo, as our #2 and #3 teams both fell, and our #1 team needed a furious rally in the 4th to come back and win. With that win, they made it 5 straight at Black Sheep and therefore there will be a $15 bounty on them next week.

I also made my debut on Phillies Nation TV this past week. If you haven’t already seen it, please check it out. It came out really well. There will be a new episode airing this Tuesday at 6 p.m. on the Comcast Network (Channel 8).

Also, next Sunday (the 30th) will be our Mad Men quiz at the Trestle Inn. Action starts at 6 p.m., and I’ll be awarding double points in the JGT Invitational to the Top 3 teams.

If you’re looking to start off the Invitational with a win, right now I would highly recommend you play on Monday night. Both North Star and Sidecar are wide slam open. It’s anybody’s ballgame at either, and no dominant teams. And I think I’ve got a pretty badass band lined up for the invitational. More details on that soon. Have a great weekend everybody!
