JGT Power Rankings
They’re back! After a long hiatus, it was time to give some teams the respect they deserved. And also, regretfully, to include the Jesters. These rankings do NOT take into account last night’s results.
1. Jitney Spears (Black Sheep). Have answered 78 of their past 80 questions correctly, and also won at Sidecar last week. This team is on fire.
2. Jesters of Tortuga (City Tap). Their lack of New Jersey knowledge was exposed last week, but they did win twice the week before.
3. Savage Ear (O’Neals). Two straight wins at O’Neals sends the Ear flying up the charts.
T-4. #1 Government Team Competitor (Locust Rendezvous). Tied with Superfluity the past two weeks at the Vous. Tie again in the standings.
T-4. Superfluity (Locust Rendezvous). Tied with #1 Government Team Competitor the past weeks at the Vous. Tie again in the standings.
6. Must Love Pogs (Black Sheep). Kenney of the Jesters has assembled a crack team at the Sheep, and they were giving Duane’s World fits before Jitney ran wild these past two weeks.
7. Surly Rabbits (Industry). Two wins in a month gets the rabbits into the Top 10.
8. Ruby Tuesdays (Industry) A win at Industry this past week coupled with a 115 last week at the Sheep (in a 3rd place finish) puts the Tuesdays on the map.
9. Duane’s World (Black Sheep) After a 54-point win in late August, these perennial top-fivers have been struggling at the Sheep.
10. Synchronized Trampoline (Locust Rendezvous) Two wins in the past five weeks have the Trampoline rounding out the top 10.

Question of the Week
Double Points Night Tonight
Things have been a little crazy the past few weeks with Eagles and Labor Day, but now we’re back in the swing of things on Mondays. Action starts at North Star at 7 p.m. Great chance to get a win and get on the board.
On to Sidecar at 9:30 p.m. Great bar, and probably a great night to get a win (and earn 10 points). Let’s go!
JGTAI Scores After Two Weeks!
Here ya go! Our scores after two weeks of quizzin’. Lots of points were given away with our Bonus question this past week. Well, there is a new one up. Great way to earn points, and to get to know a bit more about each other as well.
Teams in yellow and orange would make the cut if the season ended today. But the season doesn’t end today. Lots of time left to play. So get your team in gear and get out to quizzo, so you can earn an invite to the JGT Autumn Invitational!
Action starts again on Monday at 7 p.m. at North Star and 9:30 at Sidecar. Since both were cancelled last week, both will be double points quizzes this week.
News and Notes
- First of all, have a very cool event going down on this evening (Saturday) at our store; Jack Rooney, who grew up next to Shibe Park in the 1920s and 30s, recently wrote a book about his experience called Bleaches in the Bedroom. He’ll be in the store to talk about growing up next door to Shibe Park and about the 1929 A’s.
- We’ll also have Scott Alberts of the Philadelphia Athletic baseball club talking about baseball in Philly in the 1860s. We’ll also have free beer and snacks. You can read more and RSVP here.
- Speaking of 1860s, I did some serious detective work on an 1860s lithograph I think some of you guys will get a kick out of.
- I want to know what topics you want to see more of at quizzo, and I also want to know your favorite poem (which by posting you can earn points in the JGTAI). Lemme have ’em over on the Facebook page.
- We had a first this week, as #1 Government Team Competitor and Superfluity tied for the 2nd straight week. Never had that happen before with the same two teams on consecutive weeks.
- Pics will be posted later this weekend. JGTAI scores will be posted Monday. We’ll also have the return of the JGT Power Rankings this week as well.
- We’re having an OKtoberfest Day of Games at City Tap House next Saturday. More details coming Monday.
Jersey Quiz Tonight
Interesting quiz. Tough impossible round. One team blew a 10 point lead in the last round at O’Neals and the Jesters improbably blew a 2-point lead and lost by 13 at City Tap House. So it’ll be interesting to see how the quiz plays tonight.
We start at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. Always a great deal, always great service, and things have been a little quieter lately so you should call and make a reservation. 215-985-1163.
On to the Black Sheep at 8:15 p.m. And I’ve got some bad news to share: no mas Eileen. After a decade, she’s moving on from the Sheep. We’ll try to do our best without her. Gonna be pretty weird…she and I have been teammates since the days of Doc Watson’s. (She also served Tuesdays at O’Neals before moving to the Black Sheep.) I’ve always enjoyed working with her. Not gonna be the same without her there. The quiz must go on, though with heavy hearts.
A quik ntoe about THursdays quiz: the quizzo at Industry will be a double points quiz in the JGTAI, meaning the winning team will get 10 points.
Question of the Week
New Jersey Week at Quizzo This Week!
What the heck? Let’s dedicate a whole week to our neighbor to the East. All questions this week will be on the armpi great state of New Jersey! From famous Jersey natives to Jersey music to Jersey smells culture, we’ll be covering all the bases that make Jersey so hairy terrific! Only one quiz this week…and it’s all about Jersey. Should be interesting.
No Quizzo Tonight Due to Birds Game
No quizzo tonight due to the Eagles game, but we still have some fun stuff going on. Come by the store (13th Street, between Walnut and Sansom) at 6ish to see a really cool presentation from former Mitchell and Ness owner Peter Capolino. We’ll then be doing a Chinese auction at Field House for the game at 8 p.m. Free to play, and lots of free giveaways. Hope to see ya tonight!
We’ll be back in action tomorrow night. Only one quiz this week. But there is an easy way to earn JGTAI points. Just post your favorite poem on the JGT Quizzo Facebook wall.
