Cheating for Charity!

spells-logoA very cool event going down on Monday, September 27th at MarBar at 40th and Walnut. While cheating is always an issue at quizzo, for one time only we are encouraging it. That’s right, for one night only you can cheat all you want to…for a price. You have to pay a nominal fee to use your phone, call a friend, or ask me for a hint, with all proceeds going toward the Spells Writing Lab, who offer free tutoring and writing workshops for local schoolchildren. You can sign up ahead of time or the day of the event, and sign ups are only $20 per team (or $2.50 per person for a team of 8). It’s gonna be a lot of fun, all of the money raised goes to a great cause, and there will be plenty of drink and food specials. For more info, click here.

A Golden Quizzo Tonight!

25 years ago this week, the Golden Girls aired for the first time. Tonight we honor them with their very own round. Don’t worry, even if you’re not a huge Golden Girls fan, you’ll do OK. The team that won last night at O’Neals had never even watched the Golden Girls. And if you take 5 minutes to study a little bit about the show, you’ll be fine. Action starts at 6:15 at Locust Rendezvous and then moves to 8 p.m. at the Black Sheep. Also, a big announcement exclusively on Facebook. Hope to see ya tonight!

Video of My Quiz With the Philadelphia Union

Get Microsoft Silverlight
Here’s the video I did a couple of weeks ago with the Philadelphia Union. I think it turned out pretty well. Brad and Alejandro were both very cool, and we had a lot of fun doing the shoot. Of course, the ending was extremely controversial. I think some of you guys should be contacting Alejandro when Quizzo Bowl time rolls around. He really knows his trivia. (Click like below if you dig the video.)

Big Money Tuesday Rolls On

MEXICO ORGANIZED CRIMEAlright, summer is over and the holidays are done. Let’s get this ball rolling once again. First of all, we kick it off at O’Neals tonight, where the big money for first place (a $50 gift certificate) is wide open, probably more so than at any other spot. I know for a fact that the Ear isn’t playing tonight (Happy birthday Todd!), so that means that literally any team could walk out with a victory. And a $50 gift certificate buys a lot of $3.50 Mexican beers. Action starts at 8 p.m.

On to the Bards at 10:15 p.m. Things have been buzzing at the Bards lately. Hopefully that continues this week. Keep in mind, if anyone can knock off Steak Em Up they will walk with $100 in prizes. As far as I can tell, Steak Em up has not lost on a Tuesday since March, when they lost to the Hurtin Bombs the week before Quizzo Bowl. That means, if you can knock them off, you will be elevated to Instant Legend status. Oh, and there are rumors of a Golden Girls Round. Hope to see ya tonight!
