I know how good you nerds are at answering questions. Let’s see how good you are at writing them. Here’s how it works: Send me a message on facebook or by sending me an email (johnny@johnnygoodtimes.com) with 1-3 trivia questions in it. I will take the best 10 questions I receive (no more than one per team) to make up the wild card round tomorrow night. They can be on any topic. Just send me a message with the questions and your team name. Let’s see what you got.
Right Now in Sports
Things are rocking over at Phillysportshistory.com, where this piece I did on the eerie similarities between the 2011 Eagles and the 2007 Eagles was discussed by Cuz and Glenn on WIP on Friday and then posted on the 700 Level yesterday.
We’re also asking for your suggestions…who are the most underrated athletes in Philly sports history?
In the “In case you missed it” file, here are 5 insanely awesome Dr. J photos.

Quizzo Tonight
What a strange week. I thought we’d be dead all week, but after a slow Tuesday, both bars were packed last night. Always hard to predict these things, but I hope we get a few folks out tonight as well. Gonna be an all new quiz, so if your New Year’s Resolution was to play more quizzo, then you can play again tonight. Why not? We start at Ugly American at 8 p.m. $2 beers and $3 fries. On to the Bards. $2.50 brews and $3 fries. Tough to beat. Speaking of tough to beat, there seems to have been a power shift, with Steak Em Up attending more often at Ugly American. That has left somewhat of a power vacuum at Bards. Can your team fill it and start the year with ungodly quizzo power?
Everything You Need to Know About Kim Jong-Il and North Korea
Last week, we had our Kim Jong-il and Kim Kardashian Round. Well, there is nothing interesting about Kim Kardashian, but there is plenty that’s interesting about Jong-il and his country. Here are a few of my favorites.
- Kim Jong-il looking at things. A blog that is exactly what it claims to be…pictures of the Supreme Leader looking at everything from circular saws to toilet paper.
- As for that question about Hennessee last week? Here’s a quick piece about how they aren’t all that upset to lose Kim Jong’s business.
- The Vice Guide to North Korea is a pretty fascinating look at just how weird traveling to North Korea is. Interesting documentary.
- Those of you who have followed this blog for a few years know that I have a special place in my heart for the Hotel Ryugyong, which was supposed to show off North Korea’s pride. But after the shell was built North Korea ran out of money, so they just had this building taller than the Comcast Center standing empty. This led to the strange looking building lurking over the city of Pyongyang like a vulture, what Esquire called the “Hotel of Doom”. But a few years ago, an Egyptian company bought it and started improvements and now it is supposed to be opening April.
- James Dresnock was an American soldier who defected to North Korea in 1962. Here he tells his story to 60 Minutes. Fascinating.
- Here is an article about Kim Jong-il’s golfing accomplishments. It also makes note of the fact that his favorite film was Caddyshack…undoubtedly a great film. You see, our similarities are so much more powerful than our differences.
