Bounty Bowl Tonight

Week 2 of the JGTSI wraps up tonight at Ugly American (Front and Federal) at 8 p.m. and Bards (20th and Walnut) at 10:15 p.m. Ridiculously cheap beers at both venues. $2 Lagers at UA, $2.50 Lager lights at Bards. At Bards, Bounty on Steak Em Up is up to $25. A round on toys, and a round on movies. Hope to see ya tonight!

Comedy Show This Friday Night

Got a great comedy show lined up for Friday night at the Shubin. Some of Philly’s funniest comedians, including Doogie Horner, Chip Chantry, and Juliet Hope Wayne, will be telling stories of their childhood. Show starts at 8 p.m. at the Shubin (4th and Bainbridge). Tix are $12 at the door, or $10 by ordering online in advance. Gonna be a great show, and I’ll even be telling a few stories about my former Little League team, the worst baseball team ever assembled in the sport’s history. For more info, check out the event’s facebook page.

Quizzo Tonight

We enter Week 2 of the JGT Summer Invite, and I’ll have scores through Week 1 posted tomorrow. Action starts at North STar (27th and Poplar) at 7 p.m. $3 Kenzos and half off hummus. On to the Sidecar at 9:15.  Dollar off all bitter beers and I will have great Phillies tix to give away. Perhaps your best shot to get a win if you want to make your move early in the Invitational. Wild card round will be on Toys. See ya tonight!

A Little Weekend Reading

Here’s my piece this week from the Philly Post on my decision to give soccer a fair shake, and quit being a hater.

Here’s an awesome picture of Shibe Park drawn in 1946.

The story of John Coleman, the Phillies pitcher who set an MLB record with 48 losses in a single season.

Oh, and that poster you see above? That’s for a show next Friday at the Shubin (4th and Bainbridge), and it’s going to be incredible. Some of the funniest people in Philadelphia (plus me) telling stories from their childhood. Should be a blast.
