First Place: Golden Rollers 92
2nd Place: Free Refills 90
3rd Place: Inkspot 84
An exciting debut tonight, as we kick off the first ever quizzo at Industry. Action starts at 6 p.m. (And yes it is a Johnny Goodtimes 6, so if you can make it by 6:15, you should be fine.) Happy hour specials until 7 p.m. Will you be the first ever winner at the Industry? We’ll find out tonight.
Then we move to an earlier time at the Bards this week. We will be kicking off there at 9 p.m. instead of 10. But still $3 Lagers. Hope to see you tonight!
We get the ball rolling at the Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. $3 Killian’s Irish Reds and $2 Yuengling Premium cans. On to the Black Sheep at 8 p.m., with different drink every specials. See ya tonight!
We’re kicking off an all new quizzo on Thursday night at the Industry at 6 p.m. We were able to keep it in the neighborhood and on the same circuit…it’s the same owners as the Good Dog, where we had a memorable run. The Industry is located on Moyamensing Ave, right at 3rd and Reed. Looking forward to it. Also, it means that we’re moving Bards up in time to 9 p.m. Hope to see ya Thursday!
We kick it off at O’Neals at 8 p.m. Savage Ear has been on fire lately, winning 6 of the last 7. Can you knock them off tonight? $5 burritos, $5 taco plates, $5 nachos, and $3.50 Mexican beers. The quiz seems to be tougher in the 3rd round than the 4th this week, with a pretty funny speed round.
On to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. I think the youngsters will enjoy the speed round…the wild card round not so much. Hope to see ya tonight!
Well, the youngsters were off for Spring Break last week, so I suppose it’s time to get the next season in gear. Yep, it’s time for the 3rd annual JGT Spring Invitational. The new season starts tonight at 7 p.m. at North Star. Half off mussels and hummus, and $3 Kenzos. On to the Sidecar at 9:15 p.m. Dollar off bitter beers. Hope to see ya tonight.
As for JGTSpI scoring, we’ll do it the same as we’ve done it in the past. 5 points for a win, 3 points for 2nd, and 1 point for 3rd. Plus we’ll have some physical challenges starting next week. We’ll go for an 8 week regular season, a wild card week, and then our big event will be May. And to put a player on your team in the Big Event, they must have played with your team at least once in the 9 weeks of the season. (I’m sure Nate made friends with all of the Jeopardy champions at Quizzo Bowl and will try to charm 4 of them into playing on Steak Em Up at the Big Event otherwise.)
First off, exciting news for those of you who didn’t see yesterday on facebook or on twitter: starting next week I will be hosting a new Thursday night quiz in the same hood as the old one. I’ll be hosting quizzo at the Industry (1401 East Moyamensing) starting at 6 p.m. They’ll be running their regular happy hour specials until 7, and there will be a $3 draft each week as well. It’s a great space, by the same folks who own the Good Dog, and I’m excited to be working with them again. Going to be a great venue for a quiz, and I’m excited that we can keep it in the same neighborhood as Ugly American, albeit at a different time.
This will result in a time change for the Bards as well. Starting next week, the Bards quiz will start at 9 p.m. instead of 10 p.m. I know I’ve heard several people over the years tell me they’d play the Bards if it was earlier…well here ya go.
There will be a special Couples Quiz next Sunday at the Trestle Inn. Over the years, I’ve had numerous people tell me that I should do one where the team size was smaller, so I’ve finally decided to give it a shot. We are encouraging couples to play, because I think that aspect of it will be a lot of fun, but you are welcome to bring a friend (Sarah B.) and call them your date. Action will start at 6 p.m.
I’m going to be doing a Game of Thrones quiz on Wednesday, March 20th at POPE at 10:15 p.m. in junction with Ommegang’s debut release of their new Game of Thrones beer. If you are a fan of the show, you will not want to miss out. I have just started watching it in an effort to play catchup before the quiz. Good show, with lots of boobs. They could call it Game of Boobs.
Next week, we kick off the Spring Invitational with $10 t-shirt week. Skins of Sidecardigan fame designed the t-shirts, and they’re pretty damn sweet. And for one week only, they’re ten bones. So be sure to grab one next week. And yes, the Spring Invite will begin next week, now that we’re back to a full roster of bars. More details on Monday. Oh, and an all-baseball quiz coming in early April. I’ll let you know the deets as soon as we finalize. Have a great weekend everybody!
