Sandman to Host Tonight

The Sandman is gonna fill in for me tonight. As some of you have noticed the past few nights, I’ve been shuffling around rather slowly. I have a condition the professionals call Ole Slew Foot, which has made walking painful. Anyways, I’m gonna stay off my feet tonight and the Sandman will fill in. Meaning no French Fry face-off, but there will still be JGTAI points on the line. So get your butts to the Industry at 6:30 p.m. and the Bards at 9 p.m. The Sandman does a good job. You’ll dig it. And hopefully my enormous Hulk Foot will reduce in size in time for next week.

Quizzo Tonight

After our Comcast Quiz, we move to O’Neals at 8 p.m. Great chance to open the Fall season with a win. $3.50 margaritas and Mexican beers, and $5 burritos, made by the most beloved chef on South Street, Mohammad.

On to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. The kids are back in town. How will they handle tonight’s quiz? A music audio round, and an interesting wild card round. $175 purse at the Tap, and a new special quizzo menu, including $10 pizzas. Hope to see ya tonight!

BYO Quizzo at Comcast Center Tonight

unnamed-2

Tonight’s quizzo action starts at the Markets at Comcast Center at 5:30 p.m., as the latest in our BYO quizzes there takes place. We’ve had a really good turnout the past few quizzes. Hope we get another nice one tonight. ANyone who comes gets a bucket of ice for their booze and $5 off anything in the Market. Winner walks with $100 in gift certs. Hope to see ya there!

Old Fashioned Baseball This Weekend

1874_Philadelphia_Athletics_baseball

Thought that no Philadelphia baseball teams had a shot to win a title this year? Think again. The Athletic Club of Philadelphia will be taking on teams from all across the region in the grand old game of Base-Ball. Playing by rules set down in 1864, they will take on all comers at the Navy Yard this weekend. In addition to the baseball, Shibe Sports will have a table set up with our gear at sale prices, as well as a couple of brand new shirts for sale, and there will be BBQ offered by Phoebe’s and ice cream from Franklin Fountain. Games run from 10-4 both Saturday and Sunday.

CHeck out this interview I just did with the President of the Athletic Club of Philadelphia to learn more about baseball 150 years ago. And go here to learn more about the event itself. I’ll be down there both days, so if you want to hang out and watch some baseball, come on down!

Win a $100 Gift Cert in the Shibe Survivor Pool!

shibe-vintage-sports

We’re gonna be giving away a $100 gift certificate to our store with a Survivor Pool. (Use the password Shady) Here’s how it works: you pick one game each week where you think you know the winner. If your team wins, you move on. If your team loses, you’re done. The next week, you pick a new team (you can’t pick the same team twice) that you are sure is going to win.

Whatever team can go the most weeks without picking a loser wins the $100 gift cert. It’s totally free to play. Get your picks in by noon on Sunday.

And if you’re looking to score some Eagles gear, be sure to swing by our store. If you haven’t been yet, I promise you, you are really going to dig it. We’ve got awesome stuff for sale, and our Eagles shirts and hats are terrific. The store is located on 13th Street between Walnut and Sansom (137 South 13th Street), and you can also find us online at shibesports.com.

French Fry Thursday

frenchfries

Action starts at Industry at 6:30 p.m. Been a fairly mellow week (as it normally is off a Monday holiday), and I suspect it will be rather mellow tonight. Could be a good chance to get a win. $3 craft beer special each week and terrific hamburgers.

On to Bards at 9 p.m. No Jesters of Tortuga this week, so it’s anybody’s ballgame. (Same quiz from earlier this week. Back to our normal schedule next week). And yes, the NFL game will be on at both bars. Hope to see ya tonight!

Quizzo Tonight

Action starts at the Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. They are having a $2 “Mystery Beer” this week which strikes me as rather exciting. I think they should also offer a deal: it’s $2 if you just get the beer no questions asked, it’s free if you guess what beer it is, and it’s $4 if your guess is wrong. That would be awesome.

On to the Black Sheep at 8:15 p.m. No mysteries there.

Worth noting: there is only one quiz this week. Sorry, but I was in the car for 10 hours yesterday and I’m working at the store today, so I just don’t have time to write another one. Next week, we will return to our regularly scheduled program, with a question of the week, 2 quizzes, etc.  The Autumn Invitational will be kicking off next week as well.
