Golden Ticket at O’Neals; Beer Stein Challenge at Tap House

Golden-Ticket-JN2013_1630

I’ve got one more golden ticket to give away to the JGTAI before wild card week (congrats to Boo-urns, who won the first ticket on Thursday at Industry). That ticket will be given away tonight at O’Neals. Action starts at 8 p.m., and it’s been wide open lately, so anybody could get that coveted ticket (the JGTAI will be held on November 23rd). $3.50 Mexican beers and margaritas.

ON to Tap House at 10:15 p.m. In addition to the regular frivolity, we’ve added Feats of Strength. The past few weeks, we’ve seen people hold up kegs of beer as long as they could. This week, it will be a beer stein holding competition. Winning team gets a $25 gift certificate. (Even better, that money has been taken out of Jesters of Tortuga’s winnings! You will be sticking it to the man!)

Week 6 of the JGTAI Kicks Off Tonight; Colors Week

colors

No, not an entire week dedicated to the Ice-T classic, Colors. (Sadly, because that would be kind of awesome.) It’s a week dedicated to the colors that make our world so, uh, colorful. Whatever. Just play. It will be fun.

Action starts tonight at North Star at 7 p.m. On to Sidecar at 9:30. One Golden Ticket being given away this week (an automatic invite to the Invitatonal.) That will be at O’Neals on Tuesday. See ya tonight!

Automatic Invite at Industry Tonight

A one-time only offer, whoever wins at Industry tonight has nothing to worry about for the next several weeks, as they are going to earn an automatic invite to the JGT Invitational. In addition, there will as always be $3 craft beers and delicious food at the third best bar in Philly according to Foobooz. Plenty of parking, and with the french fry faceoff and the Name That Tune, probably the funnest quiz I do all week. Action starts at 6:30.

On to Bards at 9 p.m. Been packed lately. Let’s keep it going tonight. $3 Lagers. See ya tonight!

JGTAI Scores Through Four Weeks

autumninviteHere ya go, our standings after four weeks. Teams in yellow would be in line for a bonus prize, teams in orange would still make the cut, and teams in blue still have some work to do. A very easy way to score points is right now on the facebook page…just post a link to your favorite short story. And this THursday, I am giving away an AUTOMATIC BID to the winner of the quizzo at Industry. Just throwing that out there now.

JGT Power Rankings

They’re back! After a long hiatus, it was time to give some teams the respect they deserved. And also, regretfully, to include the Jesters. These rankings do NOT take into account last night’s results.

1. Jitney Spears (Black Sheep). Have answered 78 of their past 80 questions correctly, and also won at Sidecar last week. This team is on fire.

2. Jesters of Tortuga (City Tap). Their lack of New Jersey knowledge was exposed last week, but they did win twice the week before.

3. Savage Ear (O’Neals). Two straight wins at O’Neals sends the Ear flying up the charts.

T-4. #1 Government Team Competitor (Locust Rendezvous). Tied with Superfluity the past two weeks at the Vous. Tie again in the standings.

T-4. Superfluity (Locust Rendezvous). Tied with #1 Government Team Competitor the past weeks at the Vous. Tie again in the standings.

6. Must Love Pogs (Black Sheep). Kenney of the Jesters has assembled a crack team at the Sheep, and they were giving Duane’s World fits before Jitney ran wild these past two weeks.

7. Surly Rabbits (Industry). Two wins in a month gets the rabbits into the Top 10.

8. Ruby Tuesdays (Industry) A win at Industry this past week coupled with a 115 last week at the Sheep (in a 3rd place finish) puts the Tuesdays on the map.

9. Duane’s World (Black Sheep) After a 54-point win in late August, these perennial top-fivers have been struggling at the Sheep.

10. Synchronized Trampoline (Locust Rendezvous) Two wins in the past five weeks have the Trampoline rounding out the top 10.

Double Points Night Tonight

Things have been a little crazy the past few weeks with Eagles and Labor Day, but now we’re back in the swing of things on Mondays. Action starts at North Star at 7 p.m. Great chance to get a win and get on the board.

On to Sidecar at 9:30 p.m. Great bar, and probably a great night to get a win (and earn 10 points). Let’s go!
