Johnny Goodtimes t-shirts are on sale at quizzo this week, and I actually sold a bunch last night. I think they’ll be gone by the end of the week, so be sure to pick em up while they’re hot for a mere ten bones.

First off, exciting news for those of you who didn’t see yesterday on facebook or on twitter: starting next week I will be hosting a new Thursday night quiz in the same hood as the old one. I’ll be hosting quizzo at the Industry (1401 East Moyamensing) starting at 6 p.m. They’ll be running their regular happy hour specials until 7, and there will be a $3 draft each week as well. It’s a great space, by the same folks who own the Good Dog, and I’m excited to be working with them again. Going to be a great venue for a quiz, and I’m excited that we can keep it in the same neighborhood as Ugly American, albeit at a different time.

This will result in a time change for the Bards as well. Starting next week, the Bards quiz will start at 9 p.m. instead of 10 p.m. I know I’ve heard several people over the years tell me they’d play the Bards if it was earlier…well here ya go.

There will be a special Couples Quiz next Sunday at the Trestle Inn. Over the years, I’ve had numerous people tell me that I should do one where the team size was smaller, so I’ve finally decided to give it a shot. We are encouraging couples to play, because I think that aspect of it will be a lot of fun, but you are welcome to bring a friend (Sarah B.) and call them your date. Action will start at 6 p.m.

I’m going to be doing a Game of Thrones quiz on Wednesday, March 20th at POPE at 10:15 p.m. in junction with Ommegang’s debut release of their new Game of Thrones beer. If you are a fan of the show, you will not want to miss out. I have just started watching it in an effort to play catchup before the quiz. Good show, with lots of boobs. They could call it Game of Boobs.

Next week, we kick off the Spring Invitational with $10 t-shirt week. Skins of Sidecardigan fame designed the t-shirts, and they’re pretty damn sweet. And for one week only, they’re ten bones. So be sure to grab one next week. And yes, the Spring Invite will begin next week, now that we’re back to a full roster of bars. More details on Monday.  Oh, and an all-baseball quiz coming in early April. I’ll let you know the deets as soon as we finalize. Have a great weekend everybody!

A sad Thursday, as we will only have one quiz this week. Needless to say, I’ve been hearing from a TON of people how bummed they are about Ugly American closing. It was a really solid bar, and all thanks to the tireless devotion of Kevin, who any other bar in this city would to be smart enough to sweep up immediately. I have been honored to work with Kev, and wish him nothing but the best in the future. It’s been a fun run at the UA, and I’ll miss it.

I have just lined up a new quiz for Thursday nights. I’ll have details soon. In the meantime, like I said, there is one quiz tonight, at the Bards. Action starts at 10:15 Hope to see ya tonight!

On to the City Tap House at 10:15 p.m., where we’re going to be doing a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Anyone who donates at the door will be eligible for a $50 gift certificate. We’ll also have 4 movie passes to give away to any team that can knock off Steak Em Up tonight (on top of the $100 gift cert). Gonna be a little quieter than usual this week (spring break), so come on down and help support Make-A-Wish. Hope to see ya tonight!

Today we are raising money for the Greater Philadelphia Diaper Bank with a quizzo at the Bards at 2 p.m. The GPFB is a charity organization that collects diapers and distributes them to homeless shelters, food pantries, family service agencies, and faith based organizations. They are asking for a $10 donation and a package of diapers to play. The theme of today’s quiz will be “kids”. Hope to see ya today!

There is no quiz at the Ugly American tonight. If you haven’t heard, the Ugly American is closing. I am in the process of looking for a new place to host the quiz, preferably in that neighborhood or somewhere nearby. I will keep you updated.

Johnny Greattimes, my arch-nemesis, has somehow secured himself a quizzing gig tonight at the Locust Rendezvous. He’ll be there are 6:15 p.m. $3 Longtrails and $2 Bud Lights. CORRECTION: Greattimes will also be hosting at the Black Sheep tonight! (My private gig is gonna run later than I thought.) Should be an interesting quiz. Hope you can make it out!
