There was a sequel made to National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The made-for-TV special aired on NBC on December 20, 2003, and is known as one of the worst movies every made. What was it called (I will not accept Christmas Vacation 2)?

Quizzo This Week
Alright gang, only 4 quizzes this week, all holiday themed. There will only be one quiz written. We start the action at the Sidecar on Monday at 9:30, move to O’Neals on Tuesday at 8 (no quiz at Tap House this week), and on to the Vous and Founding Fathers on Wednesday. There’s no quizzes on THursday. We are also going to be fundraising for the Poor People’s Economic Human RIghts Campaign. In fact, I am going Christmas shopping with the organization’s founder tomorrow morning for some of the many kids her organization helps. If you want to donate towards that trip, you can donate tonight at Sidecar. Hope to see you this week!
Quizzo For the Cause Starts At Quizzo Tonight!
Every year at this time, we raise money for a worthy charity, and we’ve got a great one this year. The Poor People’s Economic Human Right’s Campaign does a remarkable job of not only campaigning for the rights of the poor, but of helping them in extremely meaningful ways. They house victims of domestic violence. They house every homeless person that comes their way. They help families in trouble keep their homes by helping with bills and utilities. You can learn more about who they are and what they do here. If you’d like to donate but cannot make it to quizzo this week, you can do so here.
The organization was founded by Cheri Honkala, who was once a homeless mother herself (and who I interviewed a few years ago for Philly Mag when she was the VP candidate for the Green Party in the 2012 election). In talking with her earlier today, she told me that a lot of people stepped forward when she was in a really tough situation, and she wanted to do that for others. She also told me that what was unique about her organization was that the people that PPEHRC helps are expected to pay it forward when they get back on their feet, and to also take leadership in their communities and to fight for the poor.
Cheri told me of several things that our fundraising could help with, including a victim of domestic violence from Texas who they were trying to find an apartment for and a disabled woman who was recently foreclosed on in Mt. Airy, and who would be back on the streets if she doesn’t find an apartment soon. I can hardly think of a better organization to raise money for in the spirit of the season. Every dollar helps, and 100% of all donations will be given to the PPEHRC. She has also given me a list of toys for 23 children who are looking for gifts this Christmas. If anyone wants to donate a toy for one of these children, please contact me at johnny at johnnygoodtimes.com and I will shoot you one of the toys on the wish list. Thanks in advance for everyone’s generosity. One of my favorite things about this little community we’ve got here is what a generous crew you guys are.

Big Money Tuesday
It’s been interesting…our two biggest purses have been up for grabs the past couple of weeks without a lot of takers. Apparently the economy has gotten so good the people no longer care about free food and beer. THANKS OBAMA!
Action starts at O’Neals at 8 p.m. $50 for the winning team, which is doubled if they can score 120 points. Last night the high score was 112, so it’s definitely possible.
On to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m., where with the Jesters not playing lately, it has truly been anybody’s ballgame. If you’ve got a decent squad, this is a great way to make $100. Hope to see you guys tonight.
Jayson Stark Book Signing and Q&A Tonight!
If you want to talk Phillies with the best baseball writer in America, tonight is your chance. Jayson Stark will be at Shibe Vintage Sports (13th and Walnut) from 6 pm to 8 pm, and he’s talking about whatever you want to discuss, whether it’s the Phillies new GM or the most overrated players in baseball history. He’ll have several of his books there to sign, and says he’ll sign anything. This is a great opportunity to knock the sports fan in your life off the Christmas shopping list. He was at the store last year, and he was AWESOME. Talked Phillies, answered everyone’s questions, and sold and signed some books. It was a really great event. If you are a baseball fan, you do not want to miss this opportunity to talk with someone who knows the game as well as anyone. Hope to see you tonight!
No Question of the Week
No question of the week this week. Be back with one next week.
New Belgium Promo at Industry
If you’re looking to try some great beers for $3 a pop, and have an opportunity to win lots of cool prizes in Name That Tune, Industry will be the place to be tonight. In addition to great food, great service, and ample parking, we’ll have a pretty interesting quiz that proved to be quite a challenge last night. Action starts at 6:30.
On to Bards at 9:15. You know the deal…great bar, the legendary Michael behind the bar, and a packed house. Hope to see you tonight!
Big Money Tuesday Tonight!
Both spots were pretty doggone quiet last week, and that means one thing: it’s a great time to get a win. Action starts at O’Neals at 8 p.m. $50 gift cert for winners…$100 if we get 30 players in the house and you break 120 points.
On to City Tap House at 10:15, where it is totally wide open and the winning team walks with a $100 gift cert. No dominant teams, and $50 for 2nd and $25 for 3rd means that yes, your team has a great chance of going home happy.
Question of the Week
After Mark Antony had this man assassinated on December 7th, 43 BC, Antony had the man’s head cut off and gave it to his wife, who then stuck her hairpins in his tongue, just to drive home the point, I guess. Who was he*?
*You can find the answer on the brand new edition of This Week in Worthless Knowledge.
