Just thought this was an interesting article in the NY Times, so I thought I’d share. Nicholas Kristof makes a good point. Shouldn’t we be campaigning people to have better conditions in sweatshops, not to close them down?

RIP Ricardo Montalban
He knew his own needs and demands. May we all be so lucky.
Quizzo Tonight
Good Dog at 8 p.m. Bards at 10:15 p.m. Rumors of a music round tonight. In other news, Adolf Hitler got taken away from his parents and Terrell Owens is wrecking the Cowboys. See ya tonight!
This week in the Metro
I did my latest in the Metro on Celebrity Cruises. (Due to space constraints, they took out my “Cruise With the Cast of Mr. Belvedere.”) Got any ideas for bad Celebrity Cruises? Post them below.
Oldie But Goodie
Hadn’t watched this one in a while. It’s just as great as ever. In case you’re curious, the guy, Brian Collins, is now working as a reporter in Waco, Texas.
Quizzo Tonight
Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. Black Sheep at 8 p.m. Also tonight, the Lovely Ginger is hosting Ladies Beer Club at the Irish Pol, a new bar in Old City (45 North 3rd Street). Word is they’ve got 40 beers on draft, and Ginger’s not letting you leave until you’ve tried all of them! Starts at 7:30. In case you’re looking for something interesting to read, here’s some cool info I found on a Hawaiian themed restaurant that used to be in Cherry Hill, and whose gift shop used to be designed like a giant pineapple. The pics I found are pretty awesome. Philly so needs a place like this.

Super Bowling January 24th
Hey kids, we’re going to have a Super Bowling Party on January 24th at St. Monica’s Lanes at 16th and Shunk, from 7-11 p.m. It is all you can drink and all you can bowl for $20, and all of the proceeds will go toward the basketball and tutoring program I help with at the Marian Anderson Center. No, this is no bowlizzo, just good old fashioned bowling. Should be a lot of fun. Oh, and garish bowling outfits are highly encouraged. Ugliest bowling outfit wins a prize. I will have tickets for sale all next week at quizzo.
