This year at the holiday season, we’re trying to raise money for a local family who could certainly use a little help. I’ve created a Gofundme page and will also be asking for donations at quizzo. Our donations will go towards helping the Walker family move into an apartment so that they can stay together (they are currently housed separately in emergency shelters).
I know many of you have already donated toys to our annual toy drive (Thank you so much!), but the response was so overwhelming that I’ve had numerous people ask me since who didn’t get to help with the toy drive how they could help this holiday season, and this would be a great way to do so. The father works two jobs but simply cannot raise the money to afford first, last, and security on a new apartment, so let’s help him out. Cheri Honkala of the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign speaks very highly of this family and I think it would be really wonderful if we could make this the holiday they found a place to call home. All proceeds (other than administrative costs to Gofundme) will go to the Walker family. Like I said, I’ll accept donations at quizzo or you can donate at GoFundMe. Thanks!
