2014 Year in Review Quiz

2014

Only three quizzes this week, all of them about the year that was. So expect questions about 2014 films, movies, and newsmakers. Action starts tonight at North Star at 7 p.m. We move to Sidecar at 9:30.

On Tuesday night, there’s only one quiz, at O’Neals at 8 p.m. And that’ll be it until next week.

I hope everyone’s having a great holiday. While in the midst of your merrymaking, keep this in mind…Quizzo Bowl is coming! February 21st at the World Cafe Live. Details coming soon after the New Year.

Ok, what the heck, let’s do it at both quizzes tonight. We start at O’Neals at 8 p.m. 2 points for wearing an ugly Christmas sweater…I’ll give you one bonus point if you wear green and red.

On to City Tap House at 10:15, where we’ll really blow it out. Not only do we have 2 for $20 pizzas and $3 Gansetts, but we’ve got $5 Sly Fox Christmas Ales and $5 Shiner Holiday Cheers. We’ll also play some Christmas Faceoff.

And at both venues, we’ll be raising money for the Child Guidance Resource Center, so that children will receive Christmas presents who would otherwise go without. We raised over $200 last night! Let’s do it again tonight.

Holiday Quiz This Week

Smoking-Santa-1

The annual holiday quiz* kicks off tonight at North Star at 7 p.m. Yuletide cheer for all, and all Christmas (and a few Hanukkah) themed questions. Brendan will host the wild card round. I’ll then take my 8 reindeer over to Sidecar at 9:30, where Sidney will do the wild card round. And remember kids, Santa smokes Lucky Strikes! Hope to see ya tonight!

*I was going to call it Christmas quiz, but in the spirit of the season I decided to piss off Bill O’Reilly.

Quizzo for the Cause: Holiday Wish List for CGRC

Hey guys, have a great charity for us to raise money for for the next two days at quizzo…the Child Guidance Resource Center has a program in which it buys toys for children who otherwise might not receive any for Christmas. A friend of mine who works with local charities says that they do an awesome job. So 100% of the money you donate over the next two days at quizzo will be donated on Wednesday morning so they can go buy toys for kids in need. If you cannot attend quizzo but still want to donate, that’s no problem. Just go here, scroll down a bit, and pay by credit card. For those of you who will be at quizzo, whatever you want to donate tonight and tomorrow, whether it’s a buck or a hundred, will be greatly appreciated. And thanks again for your generosity at the Invitational…here’s the letter I got back from Philabundance once I donated that $100. Happy holidays everyone!

Ain’t Nothin But a Christmas Partay

party

Let’s have a little Yuletide cheer with a JGT Office party at City Tap House on Tuesday night at 10:15. I know many of you are off on Christmas Eve, so why not play a late night quiz? In addition to our normal specials ($3 Gansetts and 2 for $20 pizzas), we’re also gonna have $5 Sly Fox Christmas Ales and $5 Shiner Holiday Cheers. I’ll have extra prizes to give away with a little trivia faceoff action, and you can earn your team bonus points by dressing in ugly Christmas gear (I’ll give ya 2 points per ugly sweater, or one point each if you just wear green and red)! And we’re going to raising funds for the Child Guidance Resource Center. Gonna be a lot of fun and a great way to get in the spirit of the holiday.

Quizzo Tonight

Ok, I’m back in the building tonight, starting at Industry at 6:30. Joining me will be Carl, who will be hosting the wild card round. Our last quiz at the Industry this year…hope to see you there.

On to Bards at 9:15, where Geoff will be trying his hand at quizmastering. It’s our last quiz of 2014 at both spots, so let’s end it on a high note. See ya tonight!

Quizzo Tonight

MMMkay, so remember yesterday when I promised that I wouldn’t miss any more quizzes before the holiday? Weeeeell, the entire fam has come down with some sort of flu that my kid brought home from daycare (for those that don’t know, when it comes to diseases, daycares are like Panama Canal construction sites in the 1900s.)

So I’m going to sit home and be miserable for the remainder of the evening. But the show must go on! My more than capable wingman, Sandman, will host the quizzes tonight. Action starts at the Vous at 6:15. On to the Sheep at 8:15. Last quiz at both spots for 2014. Hope you can make it out. And I’ll be sure to drink lots of quinine before heading back out to the canal with my pickax.
