Quizzo News and Notes

After becoming part-owner of a new business and having a child within a two week time frame in December, the past eight months have been a complete whirlwind. So next week I am taking off and spending some time with my fam.

I leave you in good hands. The Sandman will do the quizzes all week. No theme, just a regular quiz.

He will be hosting the final two quizzes at the Oval. We’ve had a lot of fun with those over the past few weeks. If you haven’t checked out the beer garden there, I highly recommend it. Quizzos will be at 4 p.m.

The schedule for next week’s quizzes is over on the right. I won’t be posting on the blog next week so just let the schedule be your guide.

And I want to thank everyone who donated last week to the Dude Hates Cancer. We raised over $1500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! Awesome work guys. Whenever we do these Quizzo for the Causes, you all really toe the line. You’re a bunch of freaks and weirdos and nerds, but you’re still good people in my book. Talk to ya soon!

Just got a new batch of Eagles gear in at the store, located on 137 South 13th Street, between Walnut and Sansom. If you plan on buying Eagles gear for the upcoming season, I hope you’ll grab it from us. We’ve got a terrific selection of great looking shirts and hats. And we’re currently running a sale on this throwback Eagles hat. $25 and free shipping. You won’t find a better deal than this online for a hat of this quality. Just use the code “hat” when you checkout to get free shipping.

I also wrote a piece in Philly Mag this week about why the Phillies stink and we need to try to get the A’s back in town. Best thing I’ve written in a while. Worth a read if you’re a baseball fan.

Speaking of baseball, let’s go Taney Dragons! The Philly Little League team has advanced to the finals of their region and with a win on Sunday would advance to Williamsport. Even cooler? Their best pitcher is a girl. Several members of the team are on the Anderson Monarchs, who people in the G-Ho area are well aware of, as they play on that beautiful field at 18th and Fitzwater. The regional final will be on ESPN2 on Sunday at 6 p.m., so be sure to tune in and root on Philly!

Here ya go, your scores with one week left to play. If you need points, I’ve got good news, I just posted a physical challenge on facebook…up to 5 points for posting pics of yourself in the 90s. As for the Big Event, it will be taking place on August 24th at the Field House. More details coming soon. We’ll wrap up scoring next week, then have our wild card week the week before.

Last Night of 1990s Week is Tonight!

90s

Well this is it. If you want to prove how much you remember about the 1990s, then tonight is the night! 1990s quiz going down at Industry at 6:30 p.m. French Fry Face-off, Name That Tune, and of course a $3 craft beer and delicious food.

On to Bards at 9 p.m. Jesters of Tortuga will not be there, so it’s anyone’s ballgame. Hope to see ya tonight!

1990s Tripleheader Tonight

90s

We kick it off at the Comcast Market at 5:30 p.m. BYO quiz, with $100 worth of prizes for the winners. $5 off anywhere you want to go in the market, and there are a lot of great places to choose from.

On to O’Neals at 8 p.m. $3.50 Mexican beers and margaritas, and $5 burritos. On to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. Been a little quiet the past few weeks, and with a $100 gift cert on the line and a quiz that just might trip up the Jesters, this would be a good week to give it a shot before the youngsters get back in town. Looks like it’s gonna be a nice night out. I think maybe we should do the quiz al fresco tonight.

The quiz is all on the 1990s. Been an interesting quiz so far. Hope to see ya tonight!
