Here are your scores after 7 weeks. Time is of the essence, and there are several teams on the bubble who need to get their act right. I am also offering a bonus prize drawing to teams that finish in the Top 10 at the Invitational, so those teams are now colored orange. Teams in Yellow would still earn an invite, and teams in blue need to step their games up. Your best odds to get a win? They are tonight, at North Star at 7 and Sidecar at 9:30.
Month: April 2014
French Fry Thursday
First of all: yes, the Flyers game will be on at Industry tonight. So you can watch the game and play some quizzo. If it’s close and everyone is watching it at Bards, we’ll wait until it’s over to get started (hockey game should be over by 9:30).
Action starts at Industry at 6:30 p.m. We’ll have French Fry faceoff and Name That Tune. Same thing at Bards at 9ish. $3 beers at both spots. And do not miss this quiz if you’re a literature fan. See ya tonight!
Quizzo Tonight
We kick it off at the Vous at 6:15 p.m., then move to Black Sheep at 8:15 p.m. I will be heading back from Parts Unknown and thus the Sandman will be hosting the quiz. Gonna be a good quiz…expect a few literature questions.
Question of the Week
JGTSpI Scores Halfway Through the Season
Well, we’ve reached the halfway point of the JGT Spring Invitational, and things are starting to shake out. Here’s your scores. Teams in yellow would make the Invitational if the season ended today. But the season doesn’t end today. You’e still got a lot of time to score your team some points.
And next week will be a fairly regular quiz. No theme, though we may do an old fashioned 4-rounder.

Congrats to John for Winning Shibe Sports Bracket-tacular
Want to give a hearty congratulations to John, who won our annual Bracket-tacular. He’s won a $75 gift certificate to Shibe Vintage Sports and a $25 gift cert to Kermit’s Bake Shoppe. In 2nd, only one point out, was Matt B, and Charles Cliver finished 3rd, only two points out. Not surprisingly, no-one in the pool had either Kentucky or UConn in the championship game. Congrats also to Total Ownage, who finished in 50th place and thus won a $25 gift cert to Indsutry. Just shoot me a line at johnny (at) johnnygoodtimes.com to claim your prizes.
I am disappointed to say, I finished 86th out of 89. And a quick shoutout to Go Temple! Wait, What? who finished last. Despite making fairly reasonable picks, they only had 4 teams reach the Sweet 16 and zero make the Final 8, finishing an astounding 27 points behind next to last. I don’t think anyone could do that poorly if they tried. (Here’s that remarkable bracket).
French Fry Thursday Tonight
Several teams had big nights last night, as there was plenty of cammo and lots of cowboy hats (both of which earn your team points in the JGTSpI. As do bolo ties, seersuckers, and cowboy boots). Tonight’s a great chance to get a win at Industry, as we’ve had 6 different winners in the past 7 weeks. Also a great chance to drink $3 craft beers and eat terrific food. On to the Bards at 9 p.m. $3 Lagers, and a chance to put the Jesters of Tortuga in their place. French fry face-off and Name That Tune at both spots. See ya tonight!
Big Money Tuesday
Action starts tonight at O’Neals at 8 p.m. On to Tap House at 10:15 p.m. Fun quiz tonight, and a chance to get your team on the board at both spots. $5 quesaillas and nachos at O’Neals, as well as $3.50 Mexican beers. $4 Gansett Lagers at Tap House. And you can earn your team extra JGT Spring Invitational points by wearing camo, a big belt buckle, cowboy boots, or a straw hat. Hope to see ya tonight!
Question of the Week
The First Battle of Bull Run was fought on this Virginia man’s farm, so he decided to move his family to the small town of Appomatox to get away from the war. Four years later, on April 9th, 1865, Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant in his house. He would say that the War “began in my front yard and ended in my front parlour”. Who was he?
