Here’s a quick note from Mike Minion about quizzo tonight. Ok, the first Monday there was a Nor’easter. Next, there was Passover. Then, there was the NCAA championship. But this week, there’s no excuse! So I expect to see lots of you regulars at one of tonight’s quizzes. If you have read the ongoing debate on JGT’s site, you’ll LOVE the Wild Card round. If not, well, you’ll be amused anyway. Festivities take place at Ugly American at 8 p.m. and at the Westbury at 10:30 p.m.
Ed. note: Thinking about playing tonight at UA. Anybody interested, shoot me a line. -jgt
You never answered the trivia question from Friday about which state had the first black governor. I guessed Mississippi.
The piece was on Virginia heritage and I am almost certain that Douglas Wilder was the first elected black governor, although I believe there was at least 1 appointed black governor in the deep South during Reconstruction.
P. B. S. Pinchback of Louisiana was the first governor non elected 1872-1873
furthermore…jgt is from virginia and his mom went to high school with wilder's nephew, Bubba.
