Poll Question

To me, it’s not even close. My thoughts after the jump (click on “Continue reading Poll Question” below).

I want the Red Sox for a number of reasons. First of all, I am a firm believer in the old Ric Flair line, “To be the man, you gotta beat the man.” While nothing, nothing could take away from a World Series title for the Phils, it would be so sweet to do it by knocking off the defending champs, and baseball’s best team of the current decade.

2nd, watching World Series Games in a dump of a dome is like watching Godfather 2 on on of those 4 inch battery operated TVs you take camping. It is an affront to the art form. On the other end of the spectrum, we’d get to watch away games in an American Shrine, opened the same week the Titanic sank, home to the ghosts of the Babe and the Splendid Splinter and the Carlton Fisk Home Run and the Summer of ’49. What ghosts does Tropicana Field have? The ghosts of Vinny Castilla and Randy Winn? Please.

3rd, I hate Red Sox nation. Hate it, hate it, hate it. A bunch of backwards cap wearing frat boys with Abercrombie shirts on who would feel right at home in Manayunk. But you know why I hate it? Because I have passion for it. I hate Red Sox nation because it’s too white, too rich, too bland, and I want to see teardrops fall onto their Patagonia vests when we crush them in 6. But what of Ray Nation? It doesn’t exist. This team still had 12,000 people going to their games in September, as they were vying for a pennant! Florida baseball blows, and Florida baseball fans don’t exist.

Go Red Sox! I really, really want to kick your asses.
