Writing over at PhilliesPhever.com

Sorry I’ve been a little slack on here lately, but I’ve been doing a fair amount of writing over on philliesphever.com (I mean, I’m getting paid to write about the World Series. I gotta be honest, it doesn’t get much cooler than that.) So come on over and join me at Philliesphever.com. The water’s warm. And as far as Alf Landon contests and regularly scheduled quizzos and all that, I promise things will start to get back to normal following this Series and the election. But for now, the hell with normal. It’s a crazy wonderful time to be alive. I just wish Alf Landon could be here to enjoy it with us.

The Plan for Tonight

We are going to have quizzo tonight at the Locust Rendeavous. I am going to start promptly at 6:15 and try to be done by 7:30. I was there on Monday and it was already a zoo by 7:30, so I’m gonna try to get this thing moving. Of course, the advantage of playing quizzo tonight is that you can claim the cherry spots in the bar for the game. Black Sheep quizzo is cancelled tonight. We’ll resume there next week. Hope to see ya tonight!

Holy Cow! It’s That Time Again!

I’ve been so caught up in Phillies madness that I almost forgot that it was time for our annual tradition: The 6th annual Halloween Spooktacular! Yes, all of this week’s questions will be all about ghosts, goblins, killers, and monsters. And we’ll have plenty of candy. Needless to say, we are kind of at the whim of Major League baseball in terms of when we will be playing this week, but there are definitely Spooktaculars tonight. So come on out to O’Neals at 8 p.m. and the Bards at 10:15 p.m. and play the 6th annual JGT Halloween Spooktacular…if you dare. Braw-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!!

Bud Selig to Decide Whether or Not We Have Quizzo Tonight

p1.bud.selig.jpg
A decision will be made about quizzo this afternoon. Obviously, Bud Selig isn’t as worried about the weather as he is about how much his decision will affect quizzo, so he is weighing his decision heavily. He has promised to inform me this afternoon. In the meantime read the column I wrote over on philliesphever.com titled “Yeah, It Got Delayed. Get Over It.”

UPDATE: Yes, we will have quizzo tonight.

By they way, my prediction is: resume play on Thursday, travel to Tampa (if necessary) and the next two games would be on Friday and Saturday.

See Kids, This is What Happens When You Talk on Your Phone in The Loo

A guy in France got his arm trapped in a train toilet when he tried to fish his phone out of it: The man was carried away by emergency services, with the toilet still attached to his arm. “He came out on a stretcher, with his hand still jammed in the toilet bowl, which they had to saw clean off,” said Benoit Gigou, a witness to the man’s plight.

Probably a Rays fan.

Pics of Last Weeks Winners

Wow, by some miracle I actually made it to Games 3 and 4. They were both incredible, though Game 3 might have been a biot more memorable because it was such an incredible game. Man, I am so exhausted. I feel like I played in those games. Details forthcoming. In the meantime, I’ll get to posting pics of last weeks winners in just a few. Beneath them will be questions about the Phillies. One guess per person.

6:15 Start Time Tonight

Just a quick reminder that we’re gonna go with a 6:15 p.m. start time for quizzo at the Good Dog tonight. And the Bards is cancelled. Still haven’t come up with a definite plan for the Phils game tonight. Might stay home so I can hear Harry call it on the radio, provided it syncs up with the TV like it did last week. (I’ve promised myself I’m gonna do that at least once.) But if I do decide to go out I’ll let you know.

Getting Started This Saturday With Volunteering

hburg.jpg
So far, so good on volunteering. I’ve got about 10-12 people so far, which is pretty much what were aiming for. Then again, the more volunteers we get, the more kids we can tutor, and there is pretty much an endless supply of kids in this city who could use free tutoring. So if you’d like to help out, please let me know ASAP. Here are the details on the program. It’s a pretty cool program, and the kids are AWESOME. If you are looking to make a difference in your city and your community, I highly suggest it. We start this Saturday.
