Clearing up a Quizzo Bowl Misconception

Several people have asked me if the quiz is all about the Caribbean. No. Sorry if I didn’t make that clear enough. It will be a general knowledge quiz, like a typical quizzo, except slightly harder and a lot more fun. The usual: sports, entertainment, science, literature, humanities, etc. There will be 5 rounds, with an easy, a 50-50, a celebrity, a music round, and an impossible round. Might there be a few Caribbean questions? Maybe. Who knows?*

*Not me. If you think I’ve started writing the Quizzo Bowl questions already, you obviously don’t know me very well.

We kick it off at Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. then move to the Black Sheep at 8 p.m. You definitely want to bring your literary team member. A very interesting wild card round (The Penn kids hated it…you’ll love it.) Hope to see you tonight…and just a heads up…there might be a question or two about this guy.

The Most Parity Ever at this Year’s Quizzo Bowl?

There has been plenty of craziness at Quizzo Bowl over the years. But we haven’t had a lot of parity. Oh sure, we’ve had close matches (last year’s was determined by a point, Quizzo Bowl V was determined by one question, etc.), but so far we’ve only had 3 different winners in 7 years. That could be changing this year. For one thing, Lambda will not be playing. Yes, you heard right. Steve-O has a wedding to attend that day, and without his leadership, the team fell apart. Sofa Kingdom meanwhile, will be without two of their best players. Garbo will be in Brazil (don’t ask) and rumor has it that Kenney will be reforming his old team, the Hurtin Bombs. Don’t make any mistake, that team is so good that they’ll still be right in the thick of things (they finished 2nd at Quizzo Bowl IV without Kenney or Garbo), but it certainly evens the playing field a little bit. I am predicting a new winner this year. Will it be your team that reaches the heights of quizzo immortality?

Y’all know the story. Locust Rendezvous at 6:15 p.m. Black Sheep at 8 p.m. The Jams are on fire at the Vous, but Steak Em Up nearly got upset last night. This is an interesting quiz. A Mystery Music Round and a Super Bowl Speed Round. Expecting a packed house at Black Sheep so get there early.

We kick it off at O’Neals at 8 p.m. $50 GC for the winners. 5 different winners in the past 5 weeks. We move to City Tap House at 10:15 p.m. $100 GC for the winners, and your chance to knock off quizzo legends Steak Em Up. So here’s a short video I did about our trip to Denver for Geek Bowl a couple of years ago. It’s a great video, but since I’m a jackass I never finished it. Regardless, here is Part 2. This is the one where Phil goes off on one of the greatest runs of worthless music knowledge you will ever see.. I will finish Part 3, damnit. It’s just too good not to. Here are a few of the guys we have playing on Saturday as well. (video from last year). Carl and I are with ladies team this year.
